The Photographers of the Nation – **CLOSED**

**Contest ended on 23 FEB 2011…thank you for all who participated!  All winners will be announced on 25 FEB 2011!**

So I have a dear friend who is a local photographer and AMAZING!  Keri Meyers Photography helped put the word out that I was looking for a few photographers to donate a session, or a gift certificate or anything to spread some cheer to preemie families across the nation.  I know we were blessed with amazing insurance to cover ongoing medical costs, but not everybody is so lucky.

The response was overwhelming…and so many across the US, Canada and even in Japan have donated time, session fees or an entire package!!

One OVERALL winner will be drawn to win a session with the photographer of your choice in your area…BUT WAIT!!  Many of the photographers will then be giving away a prize to a local family regardless, so there will be MANY winners!!  If you know a preemie family in an area with photographers, please let them know about this giveaway…don’t let the generosity of the photographers go to waste!!  And my one caveat, other than Keri Meyers Photography, I have never used any of these photographers but can tell you I LOVED looking at all the fantastic pictures on them!!

TO ENTER:  First and foremost…YOU MUST BE A FAMILY WITH A PREEMIE…they don’t have to be newborn, but they had to be a preemie.

  1. Fan our FB page at It’s a Preemie Thing and let me know how you found us.
  2. Find your state, see if you have a photographer listed in your area, YOU MUST like their Facebook page if there is one listed and you must tell them we sent you!!
  3. Comment on THIS page which photographer(s) you’d like to have a session with, and tell us a little about your preemie!
  4. **You can have one bonus entry if you either share on your webpage or Tweet about the giveaway!** Enter this as a second comment and tell us what you tweeted or link to your comment!

The first winner will be chosen on 23 FEB will get their choice to which photographer in their area they would like to use.  After they have selected, then a random number generator will be used to select each winner on 25 FEB for the photographers that are giving packages away!  So you have a VERY good chance of winning a package!  Especially if we have several photographers in your area!

  • Hi Julie I love your website and am interested in the Keri Meyers Photography for my daughter who is four, but was born at 26 weeks due to heelp syndrome.

  • I am interested in Tiny Hearts Photography in Monroeville, PA. I have been a fan of your page since you started. I found you through BBC, I think it is great. Luke is almost 1 he was born at 27 weeks and weighed 1lb 13ozs. He is now 23lbs and growing like crazy.

  • Fan our FB page at It’s a Preemie Thing and let me know how you found us.= Fanned; I found you while looking for items for my NICU grads.

Find your state, see if you have a photographer listed in your area, YOU MUST like their Facebook page if there is one listed and you must tell them we sent you!!= Found, fanned, and commented on wall of Victoria Peach Designs.

Comment on which photographer(s) you’d like to have a session with, and tell us a little about your preemie!= I’d be grateful for a session with any of the photographers near me, but one with a CD or way that I could share with family would be great. My B/G twin preemies are 8 months now, but were born at 28wks. They spent 3 months in the NICU. We are so glad they are home!

  • I would LOVE to win the package from Louisville, KY. My preemie will be 1 on the 23rd of this month, so this would make the best birthday present for her (and us).

We are already your FB fan! We found you thru BBC!

  • Hi, I also would love a package, but from Erin Ellibee in Kansas City. I have a 15 month old former 29 weeker and we have yet to have any formal photos of her done. She is a very curious and determined little girl and decided her birthday (she came due to undetermined pre-term labor). She’s amazing and is such a joy to us.

We are also already your fan on FB and found you through the BBC.

  • My son, Peter, is an ex-27-weeker. He spent 73 long but relatively uneventful (thank heaven) days in the NICU last summer. He’s now 7 months old and cute as ever, though he’s never been photographed by a professional photographer. He loves to show off for new people he meets, so I’m sure he would have fun at a photo session!

We live in central Massachusetts. Esther Photo, Photography by Newman, and Sugarshots Photography are all about an hour from us. I think Sugarshots Photography in CT would actually be easiest to drive to.

  • 1. I became a fan last week or so
    2.fanned their page
3.Makally Photography in Maple Grove, MN!! My son was born at almost 27 weeks due to incompetent cervix and pre-term labor. He weighed 1 lb 15oz. He was in the nicu 76 days. He is now 6 months old and he weighs 12 lb 7 oz!! He is getting so big!
    4. I don’t know if I know how to link to the comment but I shared the info about the website on my facebook page.

  • I don’t tweet, but I linked to your giveaway on my blog: http://gallipot.wordpress.com/2011/02/14/because-giveaways-are-fun/

  • I also shared the info on my facebook page and my blog:

  • My five-month-old baby girl wasn’t supposed to make it … at least that’s what the doctors said. My water broke at 18 weeks and I was given the choice to terminate the pregnancy or risk survival and a lifelong of severe problems for my baby. I decided to leave it in God’s hands. I managed to stay pregnant for 13 more weeks. I was in the hospital for 7 of them. Lila Kalet was born in September and spent 10 weeks in the hospital. She came home on a feeding tube, oxygen, and a slew of medications. She’s no longer on anything! She is five months old and we have not had her photos professionally done. I’d love a session with Makally Photography in Minnesota. Thank you for your wonderful site.

  • I tweeted about the new site and giveaways! http://twitter.com/#!/AimeeTjader

  • I’ve been a fan of It’s A Preemie Thing for a few months. Heard about it from a friend who is also a preemie parent. My son Jack was born at 28 weeks and weighed 2lbs 1oz. He was in the NICU for 112 days and is now home on oxygen support and an NG feeding tube. We visit the pediatrician tomorrow, but I’m thinking he weighs at least 11lbs now! At this point, he’s spent more of his life in the hospital than he has out, since we’ve only had him home for about 12 weeks. I’d love to have a photo session with Becca Fulmer Lapp in Lancaster, PA, which is very close to my home. At this point, we haven’t had any professional photos of Jack taken, because his adorable face is still covered by tubes and tape!!

  • Rebecca Spike Photography is closest to us. My little guy is 13 going on 14 months old. Born at 27 weeks weighing 2 lbs. 13oz. due to my having an incompetent cervix and emergency surgery at 20 weeks. Just a few weeks ago physical therapy told us we no longer needed to go by his adjusted age, he has caught up already! He has checked out with a clean bill of health and we are so overjoyed! We are expecting #2 due in Aug. (aiming for July). I have surgery next week and bed rest following. Should be quite an interesting time since our little guy is so mobile now!! The photographer in Canton, OH (Chatman Photography) would work as well. Thanks!

  • I have girl/boy twins born at 33 weeks. They both spent time in the Special Care Nursery. We are quickly approaching their first birthday (in May). So exciting!! I would love to win a session with Rickie Lagana Photography.

  • Have been a fan of your fb page for a while now, and big congrats on the new blog!!!!! My daughter was born at 32 weeks because of severe pre e an d hellps. She was a tough little cookie, and spent 25 days in the NICU before coming home. She’s now almost 8m old and we have not have real pictures taken of her since we had some done on the hubby and I 1 year anniversary!! Time sure does fly. I would love a session with Ester Mathieu, in MA I love the artistic and fun quality to her pictures and you just can’t get that at a Sear or JC Penny!! 🙂

  • […] This post was mentioned on Twitter by esthermathieu, jeske_posse. jeske_posse said: The Photographers of the Nation – Giveaway!! : http://blog.itsapreemiething.com/2011/02/the-photographers-of-the-nation-giveaway/ […]

    • Our little guy will be 17 months old in a couple days but he was born exactly 4 weeks early, although he was 6 lbs 7 oz and 19 1/2 inches long. Love you baby boy!

      • Karody, which photographer are you interested in?

  • I found your FB page through a friend a couple of weeks ago:) The nearest photographer would be in Orlando, but we’d be willing to take the trip! We could also use the photographer in Atlanta, GA while visiting family if that’s possible (it would probably be much easier for us)? Congrats on your blog!!! We have triplets that were born at 26 w, 6d when I went into preterm labor and spent 12-15 weeks in the nicu. They’re now 10 months old and doing fabulous:):)

  • tweeted your website!

Parents of preemies–check out this amazing blog! http://blog.itsapreemiething.com/

  • I found your fb page after a friend of mine liked it and i now love it!I wish i would have found it while my son was in the nicu.My water brke at 29wks they gave me steriod shots and wanted him to bake aslong as possible they induced 31/0wk due to infection he weighed 3lbs 5oz. spent 5wks in the nicu he’s now 6 1/2 months old somewhere around 17lbs!I’d like to win the photo shoot from Merories | Jennifer Lynn Photography!

  • I would really like to win with Jennifer Mayne Photography in Round Rock, Texas. My third child, Brylei, was born at 28 weeks & 2 days after my water just decided to break on me one day and everything came crashing down. She was born 2lbs 11oz and only spent 49 days in the NICU before getting a clean bill of health and coming home. It was a stressful time, being that my husbands job did not allow him any time off of work since we’re preparing to deploy again, and I already have two children to look after. I am really proud of how well my daughter did in the NICU, and of how well our family held together during such a time. I was able to be at the hospital to breastfeed my daughter at every feeding once we started nippling and I strongly believe that is what led to our early release. It’s been a blessing to find ‘It’s a Preemie thing’ because here we all share a common trait- we all have preemies!

  • I’ve been a fan of your FB since the day it launched! so excited for your blog 🙂

I’ve love a session with the Utah photographer–there’s only 1 lol, and I’d drive the hour and 1/2 for it! I have a 29 weeker, who spent 141 days in the NICU, came home with a gtube and O2 (still have both) and will be 1 in less than a month! good grief!!

I liked her FB page too 🙂

  • […] We have teamed up with It’s A Premie Thing […]

  • Hi! I found your site a while back from a friend while my son was in the nicu. I would love a photo session from julie ross photography in atlanta. My son was born at 31 weeks on May 13, 2010 after I wss in the hospital 18 days to try and stop my labor. He was born at 4lbs 7oz and started off good. Lather he has to have an MRI and was put on the ventilator and problems with bradycardia and desaturation. He spent 64 days in the nicu before coming home at 7lbs 4oz. He was 9 months old yesterday and is my angel! The main reason for the session is to get pictures of us together. I never got maternity pictures due to the complications. And since I am a preemie myself I would love pictures of the both of us. I was born at 27 weeks at 1lb and 13oz. This was in 1989 so my parent s were only given a 50% chance of me surviving. I spent 75 days in the nicu only because I was required to get to a certain weight before I could come home. I did not need any oxygen. But look at me and my son now…healthy and happy as can be 🙂

  • 1) Been a fan of your page for awhile, found you somehow (I think I might have searched ‘preemie clothes’) while my daughter was in the NICU…very happy to find your page! 🙂
    2) I’m in NY. I didn’t know what one to pick, so became a fan of the couple photographers near me.
    3) Swade Studios and Earth & Skye Photography…both such gorgeous work! 🙂 I have a 26weeker who will be 6 months on the 26th (about 3 months adjusted) and I would love to get some professional pics of her!! 🙂

  • Also posted on my facebook:

Preemie parents…check out this blog 🙂 She’s having some awesome giveaways just for parents of preemies! 🙂

  • 1)I found you through a mama friend from our NICU. After having been through the NICU twice we made tons of friends.
    2) I’m in Northern VA but would love to work with Eleven O Eight Photography. I have family in Poolesville MD & would be more then happy to drive up there.
    3) I am mommy of 2 preemies: my daughter Kiley was born at 31 weeks (8/2007) with a long list of medical problem & unfortunately they have continued on 🙁 But my sweet little girl does not let her being special stop her from being the light of the world. Her complication keep her & us from being able to do alot of normal things, but she does not let that keep her spirits down. My son was born at 35 weeks (11/2009) with a few complications, but out grew them fast & now is a healthy 44lb 15month old. Time seems to go by so fast, I would love an opportunity to have some professional pictures of them.

  • I am interested in Kenzi Photography in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. My little guy was born at 25 weeks and is now 14 1/2 months!

  • I have been a fan of It’s a Preemie Thing for a while. My precious preemie, Carter, is even in a picture on the site in the onesie I purchased for him. Carter was born at 29 weeks and has definitely “earned his rolls” We just moved to the Austin area and I would love meet a photographer in the area. Little Bean Photography is in our area and I love her work. I hope we win! I would also like Kimberly Davis and Jennifer Mayne in Round Rock.

  • I love that you guys are contributing to the families of these special ‘little’ gifts. I found you through my best friend who is a photographer in Ontario Canada, BonnieVphotography.

I would love to work with Beanand Sprout Photography though I am a bit confused why they are located under San Francisco on this site but located in Oregon on their site? That is why I have also shared and chosen Andrea Pierce Photography out of San Diego. I will be down there for a week and a half at the end of March.

Our little guy was born at 32 weeks due to undiagnosed impatience and stubbornness. He was 4 pounds 18 inches. We were so lucky to have such a wonderful staff of nurses and doctors during our month stay. We are now 10 months old and doing pretty well except our current set back of Pneumonia. We hope we will be blessed with the opportunity to work with one of these amazing photographers. God bless all the little babies out there*

    • Meg, they go to San Francisco a lot for photo shoots, and since I didn’t have any one listed in SF, they asked that I would list them there. 😉

    • Hi Megan,
As Julie said, I am based in Oregon but travel to San Francisco every other month for clients in that area. I would love to work with you!
      Thanks! – Kati

  • If I won I would love to go with http://www.amryllisimages.com, its so hard to pick just one there all amazing in there own way.
I would be happy with any one of them.

    • forgot to tell about my preemie, she is now almost 5 months and I think she is so big but everyone things she is so tinny, she is just one of the best babies ever, she was born about 8wks early, she is growing so fast. she is the joy of my life.

  • I am a fan of its a premie thing and have been for a few months now. love the page and support.

  • Hi Julie.

Wow, your making me go back and really think. You and I and Jaylie and Spencer I think are friends for life. We met on BBC and then in person at the moms of mulitples sale. Then we had our babies 9 days a part. I love my 27 week 4 day baby girl and all the challenges she has. You will always be special to me. I am so proud of you and all you have done with this site. I share it with so many. I will also post this on my twitter account. I think I would like the Kari one. But you tell me. I am a huge fan of her’s on FB but I am sure they are all wonderful. Much love lady!

  • If I won I would use Pea Pod Photography in Kansasville WI. I have been a fan of there’s for a long time.
I had a preemie girl, Emma, on December 19, 2010. I had an emergency c-section due to severe preeclampsia and HEELP syndrome. At birth Emma weighed 2 pounds 8.5 ounces and was 14.5 inches long. I only got to see her for a few seconds and then she was taken to the NICU. After having her my condition worsened and I was unable to visit the NICU and see her. My boyfriend would go up to her feedings and video tape her and that is how I got to see my baby girl for the first few days. I had to have a few more procedures and what seemed like a whole pharmacy full of medication before I was able to leave my hospital room.
Emma did fantastic. She was on a CPAP machine for the first two days and was then able to breathe unassisted. She was quickly growing a reputation with the nurses in the NICU. She was a cord puller and very feisty.
Emma is home now and will be two months old on Feb, 19. She is still feisty and keeps me on my toes. When people see her they think she is a tiny newborn. She now weighs 6 pounds .05 ounces and is 17 inches long. I have to explain to them that she is 2 months old and give them the whole back story.
It’s been a long amazing journey our little family has been on. Emma’s actual due date was February 25. She isn’t even supposed to be here yet.

  • What a fantastic giveaway! I would love the Illinois photographer Jaime Lopez Photography for my 29 week triplet preemies. They are 2.5 years old and thriving! Only had one pro session with them and would love one for this age!

  • I found “It’s a Preemie Thing” by chance! I’m interested in BellaBoo Photography in Wyoming! My little lady was born at 34wk3d because she stopped moving and only took one breath (a single gasp is what they told me when I got to see her) and had to be intubated. She had her cord all tangled up in her lower body (her cord was 6-8′ longer then it was supposed to be. She was 3lb. 13.5oz. and I got to see her for all of 2 minutes before she was life-flighted to a larger hospital 2.5 hours away. Not only did my daughter leave me, my husband did too. But, thank goodness for fabulous friends when all your family is 1400 miles across the country! After 28 days in the NICU, she got to come home, 12 days before her due date and just in time for Thanksgiving! She’s been such a blessing; I can’t imagine my life with out her!

  • I would absolutely LOVE this giveaway! I live in Denver, Colorado and my baby Kylie was a preemie…born at 35 weeks, Ky was 4 lbs 15 oz on December 23, 2009. We were very lucky and blessed with a happy and healthy baby…unfortunately I was the sick one, with eclampsia. Mommy and baby are doing great now!

  • I am the proud mother of 2 precious preemie girls. Lillian Grace, born at 26wks on 5/31/09 weighing 2lbs 1oz, passed away on 6/2/09. My second daughter, Emelia May, born at 27wks on 2/21/10 weighing 2lbs 5oz. I spent 2 months on home bedrest and 3 wks strict hospital bedrest before Emelia entered our lives. She spent 81 days in the NICU, the same NICU where her sister passed away. During my labor with Emelia, it was noted that I have an incompetent cervix. Words cannot express the happiness Emelia has brought to our lives. She does have some delays related to her premature birth but is making great strides to overcome them.

I was informed of your site and contest through Jennifer Pondillo photography. A Golden Touch photography is in my area and was supposed to photograph Emelia a few months ago but I had to cancel due to Emelia being hospitalized with croup, her one and only sickness since her initial discharge.

    Thank you,

  • I picked Jaime Lopez Photography from Oaklawn,IL . Our preemie was born at 33 weeks we went through so much at the NICU and we are now going through many emotions during this time while dealinG with oue son being behind 4 months on gross motor skills instead of just two.Phillip is just as happy as can be I wouldn’t ask for anything different he has an amazing smile that just warms your heart.

  • I have 4 preemies all being born between 31 and 34 weeks my last being born 10 days ago.It all started on 1/28/11 at 33 weeks my water broke and after 8 days on hospital bedrest on 2/4/11 at 1:52pm April Lynn arrived screaming and 7 days later on 2/11/11 at 35 weeks she joined her 4 brothers and 1 sister at home. . I would love to have bjf Photography in Lancaster PA and Im sure little April would love it as preemie moms know we dont get the hospital photos like newborn full term mommies get.

  • I would like to enter for both liana randel & stacey janzen photography both in ft. worth texas.. my sweet son was born at 32 weeks 4 days due to pre e & hellp.. he is now 13months and doing great! thanks!

  • Hi, I’m a fan of your FB page, I originally found you through Twitter, the photog near me is Tyler Plank, beautiful images! I have two preemie boys, my oldest is James born at 30ish weeks due to severe pre eclampsia who is now 11 and a half, he’s had more than his share of preemie complications that linger to this day. My youngest is Will who is 7 months and was born at 33 weeks due to a complete placental abruption and severe pre eclampsia.

  • I gave birth to my 4th child Andrew after spending 10 weeks on bedrest. 5 at home and 5 in the hospital. He was born at 27 weeks after I had placental abruption. He spent 75 days in the NICU, came home for one day then had to go back 1 day later for 10 more days.
He just turned one in November and is doing so well. He is finally off oxygen and starting to walk!
I would LOVE to have my families picture taken by Keri Meyers. She is an amazing photographer and I know she would be able to capture all my children’s personalities.
Julie I would be happy with anyone of these photographers. I do prefer Keri since she lives right by me:)
This is a wonderful blog that you have started, and I know it is going to help so many people.

  • HI Julie
this is what I posted on my blog @ natdelorey.blogspot.com
    Its a Preemie thing
My good friend Julie that I meet in the NICU has started her own company called “Its a preemie thing” and now she has a blog to go along with it! She started her company after having a preemie and spending a couple months in the NICU. While in the NICU she realized how hard it was to find preemie clothes so she came up with the idea to start her own company and help other mommies out. Please check out her blog:

  • I have a 2 year old son that was born 1 month early weighing 3 lbs 14 oz. He’s still a little peanut but doing great. He’s the love of my life!!!!

I “liked” your FB page and also shared the giveaway link on my FB page.

I would like a session with Jennifer Pondillo in the Capital Region New York. I am a fan of her FB page also.

  • I had my preemie, Addison Marie Corbett, at 31 weeks on November 11th, 2009. She was due January 9th, 2010. I had Addison early due to Pre-Eclampsia and HELLP Syndrome. Addison also had IUGR (intra-uterine growth restriction) and was the size of a 28 weeker at birth. She weighed 2 lbs 12 oz and was 14.5 inches long. She spent 5.5 weeks in the hospital as a feeder/grower. She is now 15 mos old and just hit 17.5 lbs. We have had a huge struggle with the bottle drinking so she was just switched to PediaSure at her 12 mos appointment and she’s gaining so much faster now! I’ve never had any professional pictures of her done yet and I regret this.
I am from a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio and would love to have the session in either NE Ohio at Rebecca Spike Photography or in Columbus at Andrea Kinter Photography. I have liked all of the Ohio photographers pages on facebook and told them that It’s A Preemie Thing referred me. Thank you so much for doing this!!

  • I also posted a link to this blog on my facebook page, http://www.facebook.com/jrae120380

  • I also shared the giveaway link on my FB page and my blog. http://www.marcyrogerbabymakes3.blogspot.com/

  • I have been a fan of this IAPT for a few months now. I first found you on the bbc preemie parenting board when you were running a few ideas for onsies by us ( love them! ) My 34 weeker was born on 10/17/2009 due to HELLP, Pre-e, and IUGR. She weighed 3lbs 13.5oz and was in the NICU for 25 days. She is now a few days shy of 16 months actual, nearly 21 lbs, and pretty delayed but she has came far with the help of EI. I would love to get my DD pictures taken with Studio E+3, Angie does amazing work! All of her pictures are absolutely beautiful!

  • Hello! Found you from a post you made on Babycenter’s preemie parenting board. My preemie, Eli was a 28-weeker born weighing 2lbs 12 oz. My water broke at 15 weeks but I was able to stay on bed rest and carry him until I started having a lot of bleeding and was induced. He came home on oxygen after 10 weeks in the NICU. He will be 3 this June and is hoping to have a dinosaur party! We are interested in a session with Jennifer Lynn from Wheeling, WV 🙂

  • I believe I found your page through my friend Brittany, but I’m not totally sure. I have 2 preemies, my 34 weeker who is now a beautiful 2 year old and my precious 4.5 month old who was a 29 weeker and survived against all odds. My girls are my life and I thank God daily for my 2 miracles! We’re moving out near the Maple Grove MN photography so we’d love the session with Makally Photography. Thanks!!

  • I have become a fan of your site, and my photographer is in Spokane, WA (Small Beginnings photography), and she is our photographer, and has followed our adopted preemie from when he was in the NICU, and just finished our 9 months photo shoot! He is adorable, and Courtney does an amazing job of capturing his personality, so of course I would love to win a mini session with her!! 🙂

  • Bonus – shared the link to It’s a preemie thing on my facebook page, sharing that this is a great site to support NICU families, and they also have some really cute onesies 🙂

  • I also shared your link on my facebook.

  • I live in Utah and would love to have a photo session with Stacia Thompson (she has beautiful photos and is the only photographer in Utah). I have three beautiful preemies. All of them were born due to pPROM. One at 33 weeks one at 31 weeks 2 days and one at 33 weeks 6 days (he is currently in the NICU, born 12 days ago on Groundhog’s Day). It’s been a long 3.5 years! We are blessed that all of our preemies are doing very well.

    • My little one who was born on February 2 was supposed to come home Sunday but has contracted RSV. He’s so sick and it’s so sad. Out of my three preemies he was the furthest along gestationally but has been the sickest now. 🙁 What a blessing it is that he has amazing doctors and nurses by his side continually though. I wouldn’t want him anywhere else while he is sick.

  • thanks for your nice blog.

  • I found your blog page through Marcella Junco’s FB post. I had a premie at 4lbs, 13 oz. He’s 4 now and still weighs under 30 pounds. I’d like a session with Jennifer Pondillo.

  • I found you via Babycenter.com. and I’d love to have a photoshoot with Little Bean Photography in Austin. My son was born at 25 weeks 5 days (106 days in the NICU). He’s 21 months now and is doing amazing – we are so, so very blessed! Thank you for your great site!

  • 1. We live in the MD area and are interested in the package from Eleven-O-Eight photorgraphy!
(I posted this same story on other give away pages, sorry if it’s a duplicate reading to some!)
Hi – I have been a fan of your facebook page for almost 3 months now. I do quite a bit of browsing but very little posting. It has been hard for me to talk about my “preemie” experience with others, as it was very traumatic and I am still trying to make sense of things. What I do know and what I can say is that I have been blessed with a miracle. My precious Zoe Love was born 11.20.10, at 28 weeks and 5 days weighing 2 pounds, 11 ounces. She spent her first week on the vent and oscillator. We were in the NICU a total of 65 long, grueling and heart wrenching days. We’ve seen it all and had all of the scares including a suspected Grade III IVH and a moderate PDA with questionable murmur. But through the power of what we believe is love and prayer all of the initial concerns have miraculously resolved themselves. Our “preemie-donna” is now a healthy 5 pounds, 4 ounces and 8 days old adjusted! The only major continuing concern we have is her reflux. We stayed an extra 10 days in the NICU because of her slow eating habits. She still has trouble with her suck, swallow, breath reflex and is still spitting up at almost every feeding. We have thickened her breast milk with so much rice cereal that her pediatrician and I joke that we are going to be spoon feeding her soon! I would love an opportunity to participate in all of your giveaways and have entered as many as possible.
I know I have not done my Love’s preemie story justice in this short synopsis. It’s hard for me to think back on my days on bed rest in the hospital and her labor and delivery without my eyes and heart swelling in sadness. One day I hope that I am as strong as she is and will be able to share her story with the world.

  • Hi, I chose Carrie Krotine in Pittsburgh as photographer. My son, Collin, was born at 27 weeks 2 days due to Hellp Syndrome. He was born 1 pound 14 ounces… Today he is at 27 pounds…and growing 🙂

  • My triplets were born at 33 weeks. I can’t believe that my little babies are going to be 3 years old in June. I’m from the Pittsburgh area. Carrie Krotine is my choice.

  • Hi, I have chosen Amanda Marie photography in Michgan. At 22 weeks I started going into labor, after a cerclage, amniocentesis, steroid shots, being admitted several times (adding up to about a month) and bed rest for 9 weeks, my daughter was born at 31 weeks. She was 3lbs 5oz and stayed in the NICU for 5 weeks. She is absolutely beautiful, she’s doing amazing and she just turn 9 months a week ago ♥

  • I would love to win a session with Tears of Joy photography in Bayonne, NJ. My babies, Charlie and Lily, are 19 months old. They were born at just 25 weeks gestation, each weighing less than 1 1/2 lbs. They spent 94 and 99 days in NICU at St. Peter’s in New Brunswick, NJ before coming home to us. They were born as triplets, but sadly our daughter Annaleigh passed away when she was 8 weeks old from NEC. We miss her terribly each and every day, but consider ourselves so lucky to have two beautiful, happy and healthy toddlers carrying on her memory.

  • I posted the link on my Facebook page!

  • Hello- I have a preemie. My son was born at 25 weeks at 1 lb 7 oz. He was our 6th pregnancy but our only living child (i miscarried the others). I found out at 20 weeks my cervix was shortening, so I had a cerclage put in but it just continued to shorten. My water broke on a Sat morning, but they were able to keep Declan in the womb for 48 hrs before contractions wouldn’t stop. He arrived Mon, Aug 9th 2010. We had a long and tough road for 4 1/2 months in the NICU. We were fortunate that he had no brain bleeds. But his lungs just were still to immature so he was on all the ventilators, steriods and nebulisors. We had to stay alittle longer than they expected b/c he wasn’t eating on his own very well. They had talked to us about if he didn’t start then they would have to put a G-Tube in. But thank goodness he heard that conversation and started taking the bottle better. He is home now and doing well. He is 12 lbs 10 oz and he is still on oxygen, but hopefully we will be able to get him off of that soon. The Doctors say he is coming along to his corrected age (which is 2.5 months) very nicely.
I would like to win the photography by A Golden Touch Photography in Buffalo, NY

    Thank You, Bridget

  • Hi, Julie!

I got your name from my cousin, who recently had her pics done by Jennifer Paradee Photography in Vermont. I delivered triplets at 27 weeks back in September of 2007. After three weeks, our youngest (but biggest…at 2lbs., 3oz.) contracted an infection called NEC. Within the next 12 hours, Nathan (1lb., 15oz.) and Olivia (2lbs., 1oz.) would contract the same infection, although they would not become septic like Owen. After three weeks of fighting, Owen was cleared for surgery four weeks later. I rocked my Sweet Baby Owen into heaven six days later. Please tell all of these photographers how wonderful they are for doing this! I am a dedicated NICU parent volunteer, and have been trying to cut through lots of red tape in order to get photography available to our families who are currently in our NICU. While we were there, we were offered a trial photographer, and are so thankful to have the wonderful memories of Owen, but the admin. decided not to allow photographers in. Thanks so much for posting this contest!

    • Nate and Livi are two very hysterical and energetic little miracles, wreaking havoc all over our house on a daily basis! Love every single minute of it!

I am sharing this contest on my own FB page, and I am also posting on our March of Dimes: Vermont Family Teams FB group page as well! Thanks again!!!

  • Hello! Fellow preemie mom here in NJ. I’d love to use Terrano Photography in NJ. We went through a lot have our second precious son. He was conceived through IVF (the only embryo to make it!) and then carried into the world through the help of our surrogate mother. Our surro-mama developed early preeclampsia and delivered our precious baby at 30 weeks. He was 3lbs 7oz and a born fighter! Our little preemie is now a chubby, happy 6 month old baby! We are so thankful to our surrogate and the NICU doctors and nursed for saving our son’s life!

  • I became a fan on fb long ago 🙂
I’m interested in the Bellaluce package in SD. Our preemie was born at 30 weeks due to svere pre-e/HELLP. He’ll be two in just over two weeks, now weighs 23lbs.

  • Hello my Name is Jodie and I would love to get some pictures of my son at Amy Tobias Photograpy. MY son was born at 30 weeks and weighed 3 pounds he spent 5 weeks in the NICU and came home a week before Christmas. He is now 3 months old and today was just weighed and is 10 pound 14 ounces. I had several problems with my preganacy . Hypertenson at 24 weeks, Congestive Heart Failure at 27 weeks,Kidney Failure at 29 weeks, I was on blood pressure meds 5 times a day and lasix every 4 hours to keep my kidney’s functioning. But he is healthy and happy starting to smile and coo now.

  • Hello my name is Jessica and i would love for AmyTobias in Burlington Iowa to take pictures of my Daughter for Its a preemie thing. My daughter was born at 34 weeks. I had alot of complications throughout my pregnancy. I was dehydrated and hospitalized several times. I also had alot of migranes which i had never had before being pregnant. And towards the end i started swelling really bad and i was measuring way more than i should have been. Finally at me 32 week checkup they had noticed protein in my urine and my blood pressure would not stay down. I was still working at this time but it was hard because i was being put into the hospital everyother week it seemed. Finally they did more tests and found out that i had Pre-eclampsia and the protein in my urine was getting worse. So they finally put me on bedrest to see if they could get some of the swelling down and try and keep the baby in as long as possible but it didnt help. So i went in one day because i was in alot of pain and they decided to keep me and get the labor started before it got any worse. She weighed 5lbs 10ozs. She had to stay in the hospital 8 days because she didnt know how to eat. We have struggled alot with her eating but she is doing great now and she will be turning one next month. And she is the happiest baby EVER!!!!! http://www.amytobiasphotography.comhttp://www.facebook.com/photosbyamytobias – Waived Session fee

  • I linked Its a preemie thing on my facebook for other mothers of preemie babies to enter this contest as well.

  • I am interested in the Esther Mathieu photography package from Boston, MA. After suffering from infertility my 3rd IVF was a success. My miracle was born at 34 weeks weighing 4lbs 9 ounces, the day after Thanksgiving.I was on bedrest starting at 24 weeks for preeclampsia praying that he just keep growing strong enough to be born healthy. We made it until 34 weeks, which was much longer then the doctors thought I could make it. He needed a breathing tube for the first day of his life, scoring very low on APGAR and then spent the following 2 weeks in NICU getting strong enough to come home. He is 15 months now and I look at him daily with wonder in the miracle I was lucky enough to receive.

  • I would also like to enter for the arlington/tarrant county areas of texas! b photography is actually more my area tho ft worth isn’t far! thanks!

  • I love Jennifer Paradee Photography in Vermont and am so thankful that she is participating in this contest!

I delievered my baby girl at 24 weeks (by a few hours) due to preterm labor at 23 1/2 weeks in July 2006. She was 1lb. 6oz and had a 60% chance of surviving. Our first family photo was of my husband and I looking down at her full of wires and tubes-not even in our arms! She spent 3 long and grueling months in the NICU and we only have some milestone pictures, but nothing professional was offered to us.

I’m a NICU parent volunteer and have pulled for photography and memories captured in the NICU. As we all know as preemie parents that taking a photo is the last thing on your mind while your baby is in the NICU.

My 24 weeker miracle baby is my inspiration and continues to amaze me each and every day 5 years later!

Cheers to all of the photographers participating!

  • This is so great! We would love a photo shoot with Chris and Kristen Photography in CA! Our son was born unexpectedly at 27 weeks and spent 3 1/2 months in the hospital. He is the joy of our life!

  • Hi, I am interested in having a photo session with Amanda Marie Photography in Charlotte Michigan, her work is WONDERFUL!

After struggling for years to get pregnant, we finally got our two miracle babies on May 2, 2009. I gave birth to Seth and Adalynn at around 32 weeks of pregnancy. My pregnancy was a tough one, but it was worth all that we went through. At 17 weeks I was put on bed rest and at 32 weeks I had an emergency c-section due to pre-eclampsia. Seth weighed 4 pounds, Adalynn 2 pounds 4 ounces. Adalynn spent 4 weeks in the hospital and Seth 2 weeks. Having our children in the NICU was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do in my life. While I knew they were in great hands, it killed me to see them so small and helpless.

Today, you wouldn’t know they were born so early. They are doing wonderfully! I love watching them grow and learn new things every day! They are my world and I can’t imagine life without them!

    • My Adalynn was born June 2nd at 32 weeks and spent 4 weeks in the hospital!! how funny =)

  • I would love to win the sessions with ROAR & AM Photography in Murfreesboro, TN! I have 15 month old triplets…they started out as quads, but heard only 3 heartbeats after 6 weeks. I was very fortunate to have a healthy pregnancy, but the doctors were concerned about how early they could be born, and I had two rounds of steroid injections. I went into labor at 31 weeks 6 days…my baby boy (2 lbs 7oz), and baby girls (2 lbs 5 oz & 2 lbs 7 oz) were born pretty healthy with little complications. They remained in the NICU for 32 & 34 days where they needed to grow & learn to eat, and were nearly 5 lbs when they came home. Now they are big & healthy toddlers who just love the camera!

  • I just linked you on my Facebook page 🙂

  • Hi! Our little Benjamin was a 28 weeker born at 2 lbs 6 oz. On his second day of life he had a severe pulmonary hemhorrage, and the doctors told us his blood gas levels were incompatable with life, so we had a priest come and baptize him. Fast forward to now, and he’s a remarkably healthy 11 month-old miracle.

We’d love to have a photo session with Portrait Ave in Orlando, FL. I wish I’d known about your clothing when Ben was in NICU for 78 days. We had such a hard time finding preemie clothes for him and your stuff is great! I especially love the “I’m older than I look” onesie. It’s perfect for my Benny now!

  • My daughter and her twin brother (who died in utero) were born at 31 weeks on March 5, 2010. My daughter weighed 3lb 1oz and was in the nicu for 6 weeks before going home.
We are interested in the photographer “photography by newman” in Easton, MA.
I really hope we win since it would be great to get pictures done for Caitlyn’s 1st birthday, especially since we were never able to last year when she was born because she was in the nicu.

  • Hi Julie,

What an amazing contest for the Photographers! I am intersted in Jennifer Pondillo in the Capital Region in New York State. Her site is amazing, and its very touching that she too was a preemie mom. We would love to have a photo session when our peanut comes home! Our daughter, Miranda, was born 36 days ago on 1-11-11, 111 days early…she must have know she was our #1! She is doing well for being so early (24 weeks exactly) and she is just the love of our lives! She was 1lb 5oz at birth and 5 weeks later she is 2lbs 3 ozs! So proud of our girl! She is still on the vent, and has tried Cpap a couple times and does good with it then tires out..so they are trying to get her big and strong for a successful switch next time. She is one tough little peanut! Thanks again for setting this up!

  • Hi Julie! I found your website through babycenter.com. I love all of your cloths! My little boy was born at 31 weeks due to IUGR. He was 3lbs 1oz. He was in the NICU for exactly one month. He came home for two weeks and had to be re-admitted due to a late onset group b strep infection. It was the most terrifying time of our lives. He pulled through and after another two weeks in the hospital, came home again! He’s doing incredible now. He’s been home two weeks today. He weighs 7lbs 13oz. He is the light of our lives! I would LOVE to do a photo session with http://www.ckrisphotography.com. We live in the Santa Barbara area. Their website is amazing! I have been dying to have professional photos, but really can’t afford it. This would be an incredible opportunity! Thank you for considering us! -Margaret

  • My son Randy was born 28 weeks early. I was had preeclampsia with the HELLP syndrome..He only weighed 1lb. 8.5oz…He was in the hospital for over 3 months of his life..Everyday he was in the hospital I wrote in a journal for him so that when he is old enough to understand what he went through when he was born he can read it and see just how much we were all going through. He is my world I never gave up on him no matter how many ups and downs he had. He has some problems with learning but that is the only thing he has had to deal with thankfully. He just turned 8 years old a couple of days ago and he is in 2nd grade. I am so proud of him and how far he has come in just his 8 years of life… I would love to have a professional photo shoot, but i can not afford one as I myself am having major medical problems of my own…

I would love to win a photo session with Amy Tobias Photography in Burlington Ia 52601

  • Hi, I love the pictures Kenzi Photography in Marion, IA does.
My son Kaleb was born 15 weeks early on Septmeber 30th, 2006, tipping the scales at 1 lb. 14 oz. While it was a very scary time in our lives, we tried to make light of the situation by deciding that Kaleb either didn’t want to miss out on all the holidays, or didn’t want to miss ESPN Sports Game Day to watch the Iowa Hawkeyes (shhh…we still to this day haven’t told him they lost that game!) While it was a long 75 days in the NICU, our ‘rockstar’ (as the nurses would nickname him) came home 1 month early free of all wires and oxygen…how happy I was to have a ‘wireless’ baby!! The only tale tale sign of his prematurity are his ‘professor glasses’ due to being on CPAP for so long, and his missing enamel and chipped tooth thought to be from intubation. While a little on the short side (and skinny) our 4 year old handsome devil has caught up nicely to his peers! We are so blessed and thankful for the spunk he adds to our lives everyday!

  • I would love to do a professional photo session with Terrano Photography in Bayonne, NJ. My son Jake was born at 34 weeks and was just 4 lb. 3 oz. He spent 10 days in the NICU in Princeton, NJ. We have never had any professional pics done, so I would be thrilled to have Jake star in a photo shoot where he can show off his amazing smile and sweet personality!

  • Hey, your website and blog are taking off!! A mom from my local mommy group mentioned your blog! I know you from babycenters preemie parentIng board. Anyway, my “preemie-Donna” was born at 29 weeks with no notice due to a placental abruption, she is now 16 months and the sugar on my coffee :). I would love a session with portrait ave in Orlando, FL.

  • I’m a proud mommy of a 34 weeker due to hellp syndrome. I find your site through baby center. Would love a session with a los angeles or san diego photographer.

  • I am a proud preemie mommy! my water broke at 25 wks, which then I got transfered to a local hospital in Albany Ny. Where they gave me EVERYTHING to stop labor. My daughter Rylee Paige was born @ 26wks on April 28,2006 @ 1lb 12oz & 12.5 inches long<3 She spent 2 LONG months at Albany med nicu. After her 2nd day of birth she could breath on her own, & I remember every nurse that ever tended to her during those 2 months. everyone said out of all there years of working at the hospital; They never met a baby so tiny & preemie with such attitude, personality & spitfire<3 @ 1lb Rylee could grap your finger and had a death grip youd never believe. From her story before birth, after birth,to now when she will soon be turning 5 is an amazing story<3 She is a true amazing wonderful blessing<3 She has never had any set backs, or developmental problems, she is a smart, beautiful little girl who touches the lives of many<3 Id love for us, for her to win this contest & get her pictures done at a local business JenniferPondilloPhotography. This photographer does fantastic, beautiful work<3

  • I would absolutely LOVE to win a session with Stephanie Krupicka Photography in Lewiston, Idaho. My little guy is named Miles and he came along a little over 5 weeks early. After trying to have a baby for about 2.5 years, we finally got the good news right before Christmas 2009 that we were pregnant! I had kind of a rough pregnancy and ended up with severe Preeclampsia and was flown by helicopter to Spokane WA, after I just went in for a normal doctor’s appointment, thinking everything was fine. Yikes! My blood pressure continued to go crazy for the next few days, so they decided to induce me, and beautiful little Miles was born on July 28. He was 4 lbs, 9.6 oz and had a brain bleed, but that miraculously cleared up on it’s own very quickly. Miles was in the NICU for 9 days (which felt like 9 months), but as soon as he learned to eat, he was good to go. Now he is absolutely perfect and over 6 months old! Babies are SO amazing! 🙂

  • I am interested in the Denver Colorado session with Bryn Ma Rae Photography. Eloise is a former 25 weeker, now 1 year and doing fantastic!

  • My son mason was born at 34 weeks due to iugr. I was placed on bedrest for three weeks at home and 1 in the hospital. He weighed 2 lbs 14 oz when he was delivered via csection. It was scary to have no choice but to gave him or possibly lose him. We git to take him home april fools day, 6 weeks after he was born.. He will be a year old the 23rd of February and is doing great at a whopping 12 lbs.

We have been wanting to do pictures but haven’t had a chance. We love Liana randel .

  • I would love a session with Sylvia Cook or Keri Meyers. My boy was born in 2008 at 24 weeks 4 days. He weighed one pound eleven ounces and was 13 inches long. We were in the hospital for 102 days. He’s now 2.5 years old and doing fantastic!! He’s thriving and has met or exceeded all milestones. He’s our little miracle!!

  • I would choose Jamie Lopez Photography. My daughter was born at 26 weeks, and like most preemies has overcome several obstacles. She is now 5 months, 2 months adjusted, and doing fabulous. She has never had her picture taken professional pictures, but we get the opportunity.

  • Just tweeted: sako_orme MSO

  • Hi, I chose Mailinh Photography in Dayton, Ohio. My son is currently nearly 11 months old, but was seven weeks and five days early, for ‘no’ reason that anyone can tell me. He spent 31 days in the NICU at Children’s hospital and is thriving great! He’s on the verge of walking and has 8 teeth, also is working on two molars!

  • I would be interested in the Racheal Hopper photo session located from Huntsville, AL. I have a 28 week preemie who was 2 pounds 5 ounces at birth. Her lowest weight was 1 pound 14 ounces. She spent 52 days in the NICU and is now 7 months and doing great! We are very blessed to have our little miracle.

  • I have preemie twin boys that were born at 28 weeks and are about to turn 1 year already. Time went so fast and I sometimes feel like I missed out on newborn pictures because they were in the NICU for 2 months and I was worried about their health than pictures. Tonya Ritter is our local photographer to be involved with this giveaway. I think this is a great thing to do for families with preemies. Sometimes the money is just a little tighter due to medical issues or pictures just aren’t on the top of the list to worry about. This is a great gift. Thanks.

  • Share this page on my fb page!

  • Hi,
I would like Olive Photo’s for pictures. My big man is now 5 but was born at 27 weeks due to HELLP Syndrome and was 1 lb 8 oz and spent 7 months in the hospital before he came home. Rocky couple of years but he is now thriving and getting ready for K next year.

  • Hi, my name is Sarah and I have twin daughters, Hannah and Libby, who were born at 25 weeks 2 days and just turned 7 yrs old last week. They fought long and hard to get where they are and we are thankful every day for the joy they bring into our lives. This a great thing you’re doing. Thank you. If I am lucky enough to win, I’d love to work with Eleven O Eight Photography in Poolesville, Maryland.

    Thanks again.

  • I went into labor with twins (boy/girl) at 23 weeks but the doctors were able to hold me off for another week so my precious babies were born at 24 weeks. My daughter was born with a severe grade 4 brain bleed and we said goodbye to her 5 days later. My son fought for his life for 4 long months but he made it 🙂 We havent had a lot of chances to get pictures done due to hospital bills. The photographer I would choose in my area would be Mailinh Photography
    in Dayton, Ohio

  • I have a 25 week old preemie that is currently 3 months actual, 38 weeks gestation. She’s still in the NICU but should be home within weeks. She’s doing great just tiny. She was born 1 pound 5.5 ounces and is now 3 pounds 3.5 ounces. She’s finally on ad lib feeds so should really start picking up weight. Would love to get professional pictures taken with Victoria Peach Designs in Houston, Texas

  • http://www.amandajaegerphotography.com is the photographer that I would love to have a session with! I am the lucky mother of TWO micro preemies! My twin girlies were born at 24 weeks, weighing 1 pound 5 ounces and 1 pound 10 ounces. After being in the hospital for almost 6 months, they are now home and doing great at 14 months of age.

We still have O2, feeding pumps, nebulizers, all that fun stuff. Who cares though, they are miracles, and best of all, they are HOME!

  • Our Madilyn the Mighty was due to make her debut December 6, 2010 but arrived August 25th instead. I went into labor at 24 weeks and we were able to postpone Madi’s arrival until 25 weeks +1. We spent 12-weeks with our adopted NICU family. I am forever grateful for the doctors and nurses we met along the way. We had a Project Tiny photographer come to the NICU to photograph Madi’s homecoming but never received the pictures from her, so disappointed. We would be grateful for a second chance with Jessica Zellars, Indianapolis, IN.

  • I would love to win a package for my son Jacon with Chris and Kristen photography in Los Angeles CA. My son will be turning 1yr old on Feb 21st. Born @ 34 weeks, 5lbs 15oz, was due in April, what a surprise! 🙂

  • Marcy Sandoval
I just entered a giveaway for a photo session for my J…check it out at this blog.

  • I found “It’s a Preemie Thing” on facebook when I was looking for preemie stuff and just support. My Son Ethan was born Dec. 4, 2010 at 28 weeks. He weight was 2 pds 5 oz. And after many weeks in the NICU we are going home tomorrow. HE is coming home on Oxygen Support but is ok with me. I am ready to have him home. He is doing great with everything by my lil guy just likes is oxygen. We tried many times to take him off and after this last time I told the Docs if it was ok with them to just let him come home. And They said ok.
I would love to get pictures done by CherryLongPhotography.

  • I found “It’s a Preemie Thing” through a friend……I had triplet girls on May 29, 2010 at 28 weeks and 4 days….Reese, Lillian, and Grace! They were my first babies and we didn’t find out we were having 3 until I was 18 weeks….yes they were natural!! We didn’t have much time to adjust to the news before they made their rushed arrival!!! They were all a little over 2 lbs at birth and were in the hospital for 13 weeks! The NICU was a GIANT rollercoaster ride. We survived surgeries, infection scares, ventilators, and feeding issues and now have 8.5 month old 20lb very healthy and happy triplet girls. We have been very fortunate and feel blessed to have finally gotten rid of our last monitor and oxygen!!! I would love to have pictures of my girls done by Jessica Zellars photography!!

  • If given a chance, I would love Tears of Joy to photograph me son. Our road to having a family was not easy. My husband and I lost our first child to a placental abruption when I was 31 weeks. We waited one year to heal and then came our miracle. I delivered a preemie boy, Drew, on August 10, 2010. I had an emergency c-section due to severe preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome. At birth Drew weighed 2 pounds 14 ounces and was 15.5 inches long. After Drew was delivered, he was taken right away to the NICU and I never got a chance to spend time with him. As days past, my conditioned worsened and I was moved to ICU and was unable to visit Drew. Three days later, I finally was able to visit the NICU and hold him for a few minutes. Drew continued to prove everyone wrong and do well. He has been home for four month now and continues to amaze us with his progress. We feel so blessed to be a family.

  • My best friend just had QUADS!! You read that right. They were born healthy at 30 weeks on December 18th and now all 4 of them are home. I would love to give them this gift. Obviously they don’t have time or money for any extras. It took them awhile to conceive and they’ve gone through a journey with these beauties. There are 3 girls and 1 boy. I posted on Swade Studios’ facebook page!

  • I would love to have a photo session with Jennifer Paradee Photography (VT) for my little preemie! In 2009 I was 25 weeks pregnant with my daughter and had been diagnosed with placenta previa when I began bleeding significantly and my blood pressure dropped. My daughter was born 15 weeks early via emergency c-section at just 1 pound 10 ounces. During her 105-day stay in the NICU, she battled weight loss, jaundice, a heart murmur, fluid in the lungs, low blood pressure, malfunctioning kidneys, seizure-like behavior, multiple blood transfusions, apnea, Stage 2 Retinopathy of Prematurity, and multiple hernias requiring surgery. The most heartbreaking of all was when she suffered a Grade IV intraventricular brain hemorrhage, a bleed in the critical brain matter that left behind a one-inch cyst. The true effects of the hemorrhage have begun surfacing with limited use of her left arm and leg. She sees physical, occupational, and speech therapists weekly, has undergone restraint therapy for her left arm, wears a brace on her left leg, and is just starting to get her legs moving with the help of a walker. But most importantly, she is a happy little girl with an amazing smile!

  • I am the proud Mommy to twin girls who were born at 25 weeks gestation. I am interested in signing up for a free session with Erin Ellibee. I found this site on the Inspire forum.

  • I have a little girl who was born at 34 weeks but only weight 3lbs 12oz due to high blood pres sure. Luckily she didn’t have to spend any time in the NICU we got to bring her home but on a Bili Bed for about a week. She is now almost 5 and one would never know She is just like any other 4 year old. 4 going on 14. We would love a session with Violets are Blue Photography out of Mt. Pleasant, MI already her fan she does awesome work. Found you through her also

  • We have a 33wk preemie that was 2lbs 11oz at birth. I had severe IUGR. We spend 42 days in the NICU only to come back 6 days later with meningitis. But after all that she is 7 months now and she is doing wonderful!!!!! We discovered you over the summer after a search for micro preemie clothing.

  • I’d love a sesson w/Julie Ross Photography 🙂
Our sweet Scarlette, a 25 week micro-preemie was born Nov.7 weighing 1lb 9oz. We’re anxiously awaiting bringing her home, she is still in the NICU while we try to find a diagnosis for her digestive issues but she is almost 40 weeks (gestational) and weighs 4lbs now!

    • Hi kayla, my son was 24 weeks 1lb 07oz and had digestive issues also. He came home at 41 gestational weeks. They gave him something to help his liver, and also they found that my breast milk, even when mixed with formula wasn’t enough to suport his calories needs. Just thought would be good to share, hope to see her pictures on your photo session after she comes home. I bet there are lot’s of pink stuff waiting for her. Good Luck!

  • I found out from my friend Kati (bean and sprout photography) in Oregon. My twins were born at 30 weeks at 2lb each and spent 10 weeks in the NICU. They are now 15 months (13 adjusted) and doing great!

  • I found out about you website from Bean and Sprout Photography’s facebook posting. My daughter was born at 30 weeks weighing 1 pound 9 ounces. She was diagnosed with IUGR at 27 weeks. After extensive monitoring and many ultrasounds they decided she needed to come out and she was delivered by emergency C-Section 4 years ago. She spent just over 7 weeks in the NICU. Today she is doing great! We just had our second baby who was also IUGR but was able to make it to 38 weeks. Thanks for making such a great site!!

  • Hi my son Jonathan was born at 25wks
he weighed 1lb .08 oz and we would love to get the
photograh giveaway I hear about it on it’s a preemie

  • I would love to have pictures taken by little c photography in Boynton Beach, Florida. I was already a fan of ‘little c’ on FB and I am a fan of ‘it’s a preemie thing’ as well. My son was born at 24 weeks weiging 1lb7oz. After 90 days in the NICU he was released without any monitor or medication. He is now 2 years old and is the sunshine of our house. This session would be great to show all the people that prayed for his health how well he is doing today.

  • Hi~
My name is Mariah and I have a preemie who was born at 35 weeks weighing 4 pounds. She is now 6 weeks old and weighs 6 pounds. She is beautiful and I would LOVE to have some photos capturing her size before she gets any bigger. I am thrilled to have this opportunity. Thank you.

I also have a Moms Club Support group and I shared this link on there for another chance to win. It is on Facebook under STRONGMOMSCLUB. Thank you!

  • I’m a mom to two preemies. My son Jay is now 4 years old. He was born at 33 weeks. My daughter Lauren is now 3 years old. She was born at 31 weeks. Both were in the NICU and care for by the WONDERFUL staff that we consider family now! My babies are full of life, happy and healthy. Praise the LORD! I would love to have a photo session for them with Julie Ross in Atlanta. Thanks so much!

I’m a fan on FB of Its a preemie thing & julie ross photography

  • I would love a session with Portrait Ave here in Orlando. I just friended their FB page! I am the mother of identical twin preemie girls born at 32 weeks. We spent our first month in the NICU at Florida Hospital South and have been healthy as can be every since!!

  • I would love a session with Violets are Blue Photography in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. After 18 weeks of bed rest of which 9 of them were in the hospital, my daughter Gracelyn was born on April 19, 2010 weighing only 2lbs 10oz at 28 weeks. Thankfully with the close monitoring with the high risk doctors, she was born breathing on her own and only needed CPAP for less than 24 hours. She was hospitalized for 7 weeks then was able to join our family. She still has a few preemie issues that we are dealing with but nothing too much, mostly apenas and bradys at night and swallowing issues. She is absolutely amazing and we thank God for our little miracle everyday!

  • Julie, I am a first time Mom to Mono-Mono Twin Boys! Nolan and Logan were born unexpectedly at 25 weeks and 5 days. Today marks day 91 of our NICU experience. The boys will be 3 months old on February 20th! The crazy part is that my due date is 2-28! Both boys have had struggles and triumphs but, we are just over the moon to know how great of a miracle they both are! I am interested in Rebecca Spike Photography from (east) Cleveland, Ohio! This is such a wonderful opportunity that you and all of the photographers are providing to all of us preemie families! IDid also like her FB page and haveshared this on my FB page!

  • […] NICU parents! (Boston) If your baby is or was a preemie, make sure to enter this contest on It’s a Preemie Thing: http://blog.itsapreemiething.com/2011/02/the-photographers-of-the-nation-giveaway/ […]

  • Ok, I thought I already posted on here but don’t see my post so I’ll do it again… I’ve done the liking of the photographers in my area. The closest to me is Tears of Joy in Northern NJ (but either NJ photographer would work). I initially found It’s a Preemie Thing from googling preemie clothes. Haven’t been able to buy anything yet, due to lack of funds, but I just got a job so I will be able to finally get his NICU Grad onesie in the next few weeks. 🙂 My little man, Austin, is a 27 weeker, who as I have noted before, weighed in the same as Spencer at birth. Born on Oct 25, 2010, he came home from the NICU on 12/30. The main reason I really want to win one of these photo packages is because he is still on oxygen and we have been instructed that he is not to leave the house except for doctors visits… so I don’t have the option to take him to a cheap (Sears, Walmart, etc) photo studio for pictures; we would have to have someone who could come to our home, but those kind of photographers are way out of my price range, being an until recently unemployed, single mom. He is my one and probably only, so I would love to get some pro pics of him before he’s not little anymore. 🙂

  • My friend Jesse pointed me here.

I’d love a photo session with Artsychameleon (or any of the southern California folks).

I’m one of the moms of two micro-preemies, Grace and Noah. They were born on March 27, 2007 at 25 weeks (850 and 835 grams respectively. After the usual preemie gauntlet (PDA ligation, laser surgery for ROP, intubation, extubation, being on the scary high frequency oscillating vent, transfusions), Noah was discharged at 105 days, which was on their due date.

Grace is way more complicated. She was never successfully extubated (she also had the usual suspects of transfusions, ventilation, PDA ligation, laser surgery) probably due to the grade III and grade IV IVHs. She was transferred to another NICU at a hospital that will remain nameless (hate them) where they were supposed to do an ENT consult, but instead found a non-existant GI issue due to abdominal distention.

Long story short, she had a trach put in and was placed on a ventilator (on my 35th birthday!) Later she was transferred to another hospital’s PICU where she received her g-tube. From there she was transferred to a subacute pediatric care facility (aka, kid’s nursing home) where she rehabbed for 2 years. She came home on May 17, 2010 and has been amazing and wonderful ever since. She’s no longer on a ventilator, but she walks, signs, goes to school, plays.

Both of my children are blessings. They’ve been the best teachers I’ve ever had.

  • Hi, I already entered but then I found one closer to me so if I can change I would love to win from Melissa Ann Photography.

  • Hi Julie, I have been a fan of It’s a Preemie Thing from the very beginning. I found you on BBC & was lucky enough to watch your company come into being.

I would love to win a session with Andria Pearce Photography in San Diego. I still haven’t gotten professional pics of my little preemie Zachary. As you know, he was a 25 weeker who had a really rough roller coaster ride of a NICU stay, but is now doing wonderfully.
    Thanks for doing this Julie!

  • i would love to win from Brooksville – melissaannphotos.com – http://www.facebook.com/pages/Melissa-Ann-Photography/133290713378178

My preemie is Adalynn and she was born at 32 weeks weighing 3 lbs 4 oz!

  • Hi, I saw that our photographer (A Golden Touch Photography – Buffalo) posted this on FB so I came to check it out. My daughter was born at 34 weeks by C section due to IUGR (I had PIH but no one can tell us for certain this is why she was IUGR.) She was 2lbs 3oz, 14in. Its still a surreal experience after having 2 other full term children with absolutely no problems. I still find myself saying, ‘I can’t believe she was a 2 pounder, I can’t believe I had a C section!’ Baby girl F spent 7 weeks in the NICU and came home at 4lbs 3oz. She’s now 8 months (6.5 corrected) and weighs 11lbs. We were just at a party last week and someone asked if she was a few weeks old.. its kind of funny.. did he think she just had really awesome head control? LOL! You have to laugh..

  • I would love a free session with Wendy Magee Photography. I had a micro-preemie weighing in at 1lb 9ozs. and was just 12 1/2 inches long. She had a roller-coaster ride of ups and downs in her three months in the NICU. She was and still is such a fighter. She is now almost 4 years old and is doing fabulous! I would love the chance to have her photos taken by such a talented photographer!!!

    • Just wanted to add she was born at 25 weeks!

  • I would love to enjoy any sessions with anyone in Pittsburgh PA. My daughter has been a mircale. My pregnacy with her started off just like my first one. Perfect. Being sick all the time and feeling the normal pregancy signs.

At 17 weeks everything started going down hill…preterm labor set in and they gave me steriod shots but could not take the meds to stop contractions because it would drop my blood pressure down to dangerous levels.

From 17 weeks until 34 weeks I was in and out of the hospital and on bedrest. At 33 weeks I went into the ER and told them my water broke. The ER doctor felt my stomach and told me it did not break and they sent me home.

At 34 weeks I went in for my regular apt and the doctor measured my stomach. I was only measuring 20 weeks. She asked if I felt any different and I told her last week I was in…told the ER doctor about my water and they sent me home. She immedietly sent me down for a U/S and it showed that I had no water to measure and Addyson was weighing about 7lbs 3oz. They sent me up to the doctor again and she was waiting in the waiting room. She sent me right now for an emergancy induction.

2 hours later Miss Addyson entered the world weighing only 3lbs 4oz and only 15inchs long. It was a complete dry birth and Addyson was not doing well. She spent 1 day in the ICU and somehow recovered from everything. She passed all her tests and they sent her home with me when I went home. Somehow my little peanut was a fighter and she beat all the odds the doctors had for her.

Now 18 months later we see 5 specialist once a month and are fighting to keep her weight on. She has had 4 surgeries for different things and has come out of every single one still a fighter! My baby girl is amazing and I am so glad I found this blog to share all about her!

  • 1. I became a fan last week or so. I saw post on Graham’s Foundation.
    2. fanned their page
    3. Tina Stephens Photography!! My son was born at 26 weeks with severe IUGR he weighed 1 lb 1oz. He was in the nicu 140 days. He is now 6 months old and he weighs 8 lbs and is only 21 inches long. Still super tiny but compared to his birth weight he is huge!

  • Hi Julie,

What an awesome idea!! I’d love to win a session with Kelly, she’s a GREAT photographer!! I actually have 2 children that were both born premature. My oldest son Nicholas (5yr old miracle) was born at 23wks & 6days @ 1lb 12oz! He had an endless list of medical issues, but by the grace of God he was healed of EVERY single one! After 5 1/2 LONG months in the NICU, minor “flame outs & tantrums” can go over looked =)

My baby Audriana (20 months) had to be delivered at 34wks 5days @ 6lbs 12oz, due to my previous classical c-section & other medical issues I had. The amnio indicated she was ready but she had other plans. When she was born she crashed, stopped breathing & that was it. I knew when my “healthy-almost full-term” baby didn’t cry or come back into the room something was seriously wrong =( However, after a short stint in the NICU she came home on my husband’s birthday!! We actually celebrated by having Kelly shoot her 1yr photos & they are to die for!

Weathersfield, CT http://Www.kgphotographics.comhttp://www.facebook.com/kellygallivanphotography – Waived session fee, $25 print credit and 2 free 8×10′s.

Thanks so much for a great opportunity! Fan of your page & Kelly’s!

  • I am interested in violets are blue photography, out of mt.pleasant, mi. My daughter Emily just turned three. She was born at 29 weeks, 3lbs.9 oz. She spent 63 days in the NICU. You would never know it now. She is a healthy energetic three year old. This is an amazing thing to do for premie families. It is a long road to try and make sure your child is healthy, especially premie children. Thank you.

  • Hi Julie! Thanks for all you do to support preemie families. I would like to enter in the Victoria Peach Designs contest in Houston, TX. My son was born this past Mother’s Day at 27 weeks via emergency c-section. I was diagnosed with pre-e just a few das before but had been on bedrest for 6 weeks. Saturday night my health started going down hill and Trey was born a few hours later. When I woke up Monday in ICU I realized my incredible mother had just spent her first mother’s day as a grandma with me in ICU and her grandson in the NICU. I am sure all my mother’s day well be spent with a lot of emotions but mostly for Thanks that me and my son are healthy today.

  • We’ve been a fan of it’s a preemie thing since November 2010. We found you through facebook as i was looking for information and clothes for my preemie. • Hi! I am interested in the photograher, Olive Photos, in Central AL. I am in Birmingham, so I hope that it is not too far.

I have an almost 2 year old, who was born at 34 weeks. He was born early, due to my high blood pressure. It was not gestational, but hereditary/genetic. I have been on medication for it, since my mid-20’s. Anyhow, he was in the NICU for 12 days, and is now a healthy, energetic toddler! I am forever grateful for the nurses and doctors in the NICU at Brookwood Hospital in B’ham, AL.

    Thanks for this great giveaway!

I will also be posting a blog about it, to spread the word. http://jenandbobross.blogspot.com

I have 3 preemies, my twin girls were born 6 weeks premature and had a 2 week NICU stay and my son was born 7 weeks premature with a 19 days stay and re-admittance at 2 months old for 16 more days. They are actaully all getting discharged from Early Intervention next week and I am so excited! For the first time since I have had the twins I will not have any appointments during the week for them! I don’t know what I will do with all of this spare time – maybe stalk It’s a Preemie Thing some more 🙂

  • We would like a session with Amaryllis Images in Seattle, WA. I found your page via March of Dimes. Our son is an ex 25 week preemie born @ 1 lb, 7.8 oz. 13″. He spent 11 1/2 months in the hospital. He is now 4 y/o in preschool and is 41 lbs, 11 oz., 42″. Due to his medical issues, we have never had (nor been able to afford) professional pictures of him. This would be a wonderful opportunity of our family. Thanks!

  • KM Photo Studio is great, she is great with adults and kids, capturing the moments as they happen. What a wonderful opportunity, I would like a session with KM Photo Studio.

  • Hello 🙂 My Name is Elizabeth and my Miracle is Madeline. <3 She was due on march 31 2010 but was born on Christmas 2009. Her smallest weight while in the hospital was 1lb and 4oz. • Hi. I found your page when my son James was in the NICU. We were looking for any and all sources of support. He was born on August 2, 2010 at 22w 6d. Praise God that they thought he was 23 weeks or they wouldn’t have intubated him. He weighed 15oz and was 10.5in long. He came home on Jan 9th and is doing great. He was taken off oxygen last week, so far so good.

We are interested in KM Photo Studio in Dallas, TX

Thank you for all you do!!

  • Wendy Magee is in my area!

My 32 week, 4 day preemie will be 3 this Saturday. 🙂
He was born a big boy, weighing 5lbs 4oz. He was early due to my emergency gall bladder surgery just 4 hours before I had my c-section with him. I was hospitalized for 3 weeks before I had him with gall stones…one decided to lodge itself in my bile duct. As my gall bladder became gangrene, my body was filling with poison and it was effecting our baby. When I became jaundice and septic, we had no choice but to remove the gall bladder and pray it wouldn’t put me into labor. I was out of it for those 3 weeks, I remember nothing of that time. All decisions were placed on my husband. He opted for the gall bladder surgery once he found out the entire ob and NICU staff would be present during the surgery. We made it through fine and just 3 hours into my recovery, our baby decided it was too stressful. He was born completely gray, with a collapsed lung and not looking good at all. He was immediately placed on a CPAP and with in 12 hours was switched to a vent. By day 4, he was only on oxygen in his nose and a feeding tube. He spent 15 of the longest days of our lives in the NICU. He is now the healthiest and happiest little turkey around. Happy Birthday, Dominic Jordan!

    • Wow!! Karie, Very touching. . . I also had gall bladder problems during my pregnancy. I feel for what you were going through. I’m glad everything has worked out okay for the both of you! Good luck! Maybe I’ll get to meet little one 🙂

  • I am interestes in Julie Ross Photography in GA. I am the proud mother of 3 girls Isabella 4yr, Nicole and Gabriella Twins- they are my little miracles! Nicole and Gabriella are TTTS survivors and were born at 28 weeks because of placental abruption, they were born at 2 lbs 11 oz and 2 lbs 3 oz and spent 64 and 74 days in NICU (hardestdays of my life) and are now 7 months (4 adjusted) I am so [roud of them they have fought hard and are doing great right now-

  • I am interested in Tears of Joy Photography in NJ. I am a proud mother of a little girl that was born at 28 weeks weighing 1 pound 12 ounces. She was fine at birth other than being on c-pap. We found out 1 week after birth that she needed surgery on her small intestines. She had a complete blockage because a part of her small intestine was twisted. She had to wear an ostomy bag for 3 months while she grew. About 10 days before we were discharged she had a second surgery to reconnect her small intestine. We left the NICU after 3 months happy and healthy. She weighed in at 5 pounds 7 ounces at discharge and she is now just about 12 pounds at 7 1/2 months old. She is my little miracle baby.

We were on vacation in San Diego when I went into preterm labor and I spent 4 weeks on bed rest in the hospital. He is my little fighter 🙂 He was walking at 10 months, and now at 2 years hes still tiny, 25 lbs. LOVE HIM!!!

  • We would love to have a session with Carrie Krotine Photography. Luke was born at 27 weeks due to HELLP Syndrome. He was in the NICU for 75 days and came home on O2 and monitors. He will be one in a little less than 2 weeks.

  • http://www.wendieswonders.com/ all of the photographers from Pittsburgh look great.

  • I would love to have a session with any of the MN photographers that are being so generous. Makally Photography or the Posh Princess!

I have two preemie stories. Our first came at 31 weeks totally unexpected! Went in the hospital in PTL on a Friday and she was born on a Monday. Spent 5 weeks in the hospital and now 7 years later she is the tallest in her 1st grade class and doing great!

Our second came after 11 weeks of bedrest, an incompetent cervix and weeks of mag sulfate. Labor was stopped with hospital bedrest. Went home and then back again in 12 hours. She came the next day at 30 weeks. Now she is a healthy and beautiful 10 month old that never misses a beat.

Both of my girls weighed in at 3 lbs 10 oz! Lucky number for us!

  • I tweeted about the giveaway today. Here is the link!

    • opps. i guess i retweeted so it doesn’t look like it came from me. but I am tcarstens so that is my claim to the retweet! thanks!

  • Julie – I met you through the NICU/Antepartum at Evergreen Hospital and first, I want to tell you how much of a difference you’ve made to so many families with preemies. You’ve given them a wonderful place to share and support. When my first son, Jeff, was born 21 years ago there was no one to talk to about all the challenges we were going through. It was 1989, the internet was in its infancy and the Kaiser Permanente hospital where he was born — and almost died — had no type of networking for parents. Having a preemie wasn’t really talked about. I remember being at the mall soon after he was born and a sales clerk asked me when my baby was due. I told her that he was already born but was still in the hospital — silence. My baby’s lungs were extremely immature, artificial surfactant and Betamethasone were still in study so not used at Kaiser, and the only options for oxygen for a baby were an oxyhood or ventilator — no CPAP, no high-flow nasal cannulas, nothing. My son was born at 31 weeks. I remember my Mom repeatedly telling me that the Kennedy (Patrick Kennedy) died from Hyaline membrane disease and asking if that’s what Jeff had. I kept asking and was told that Jeff had severe respiratory distress syndrome. Finally, one of the nurses told me that respiratory distress syndrome and Hyaline membrane disease are the same thing.

Jeff had a very complicated course — tension pneumothorax that took 4 hours to get a working chest tube in during which time he was extremely hypoxic and “coded.” At one point we were told he had a 5% chance of survival. That turned to 50%. When it was decided that he probably would live, the prognosis was grim — probable cerebral palsy, possible blindness and deafness, but 100% guarantee that he would have significant deficits.

    Jeff is fine.

Steve, my husband, and I debated having another child. Could we put another baby through all the procedures… all the pain. I did a lot of research before getting pregnant again. Artificial surfactant was making a huge difference in outcomes, so we made a conscious decision to have a second baby. I remember sitting down with the OB, now in North Carolina, and asking what he was going to do to manage my pregnancy differently. Soon after I got pregnant I learned I had a complete previa and was told that after 28 weeks gestation there could be significant bleeding which would probably result in a second premature birth. I was devastated. I remember crying, telling Steve that I just couldn’t put another baby through a NICU stay and considering terminating the pregnancy. Steve had significant medical problems as a baby, spending the first 2 years of his life almost 100% in the hospital. He put things into perspective for me and said that given the choice of going through all he had, including multiple surgeries, or not being here, he’d choose life. Michael, now 18, was born at 36 weeks and 4 days. Luckily, the placenta migrated through the pregnancy and move off my cervix. Still a preemie, he went home from the hospital with me. What a different experience!

Adam was born at 36 weeks 0 days, yet another preemie. I graduated from nursing school pregnant with Adam. He’s now 16.

I think that being a NICU parent forever leaves you changed. I became a nurse because of it, you created “It’s a preemie thing.” It leaves you wanting to make a difference in the lives of other preemie parents, too.

Dana is my only “termie.” She was born at 37 weeks 4 days on 9/2/2000. At four children, our family was complete. However…

Liam was our surprise. He was born at 34 weeks gestation on 2/19/2010. He weighed the same as Jeff – 5 pounds 5 ounces – they also shared another thing in common, respiratory distress syndrome. Seeing him retracting in the NICU and struggling to breathe brought all the memories of Jeff’s horrible course rushing back into both Steve’s and my head. Could we go through this again. Logically, I knew technology had come a long way, but emotionally – it was really hard. Luckily, Liam did great and had an uneventful course. Although I know he is a preemie, it’s sometimes hard for me to put that label on him. I just associate it too much with Jeff.

Anyway, what I really would like is a family photo. It’s particularly important to me to have both Jeff and Liam in the photo — they are so alike, but yet so different. Liam had his photos taken by Keri Meyers. They are amazing! For this, though, I think I’d prefer one of the following photographers:

Seattle http://imagesbytorrihoward.smugmug.com/http://www.facebook.com/pages/Images-by-Torri/150417248335375 – Waived session fee and 25-30 images on a CD

Seattle http://www.amaryllisimages.comhttp://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Amaryllis-Images/62010426755 – Waived session fee, 1-3 hour session at your home for newborns (or newly home), or a location of your choosing for older children or families and 10 images on a disc ($450 value)

I think that emotionally I need to separate the family photos from Liam’s individual ones. I can’t really put words as to why, other than to say this family photo would include my preemies, who are so different.

Finally, I do want to add that we are not the only ones changed by the NICU experience — your children will be changed, too. I’d love to do a study on what being a preemie does to adults, but that’s for another day. Jeff says he has survivor guilt — he feels his life is a gift and it’s essential he do something special with it. I’m curious if Liam’s uneventful course will make the difference it’s made for Jeff. Only time will tell.

Thanks so much for reading, thanks to all the photographers for donating their time and energy and thank you, Julie, for making a difference.

    • Amazing story Linda. I would love the opportunity to photograph you family!

  • 1) I’ve been a fan for a few months now, I found you through a friend (she has the page It’s Mamalicious on FB)

    2) I’d like to enter for Julie Ross Photography in Atlanta, GA, and I have already become a fan of her FB page.

    3) I’d love to have a session with my family which includes my little Alex, born at 26w5d on 7/30/10. My water broke exactly a week before he was born, and the close bedrest monitoring revealed IUGR, so we waited as long as we could until we just couldn’t be confident that he was okay in there. He was leeetle, only 1lb 10oz and 12 inches long. He is 6 months old now, 3 months adjusted, and is still in the 5th percentile for his adjusted age, so still small. Or, as I see it, more portable. He had one UTI in the NICU, and also needed surgery about 3 weeks after discharge to repair pyloric stenosis. Now, other than needing to catch up to actual age, he’s doing really well is is developmentally in line with his adjusted age.

  • Totally a fan of It’s a Preemie Thing!!! Our family would love to have a session with Tears of Joy in NJ.

Benjamin was born at 28 weeks, weighing 2 lbs., 11 oz. and spent 105 days in the NICU. Ben had a pulmonary hemorrhage 4 days after he was born and doctors were shocked he pulled through it. He fought so hard and had the will to live! Ben came home for a week and then had aspiration pneumonia, sending us back to the NICU for another week. He is home for good and just reached his 12 month adjusted age! All of these preemies are just AMAZING!!!

    Thanks for the photo opportunity!

  • I would like swadestudios or earthandskyephoto. I currently have a preemie born 27 weeks due to pre-e, and she spent 114 days in the Nicu. She battled countless infections as well as having surgery due to hydrocephalous. She is now 6 months 3 adjusted and is doing very well.

  • Hi. I would love a session with Ricki Lagana Photography in Clayton, NC! We just came home last week with our 24-week surviving triplet. She was born weighing 1lb 4 oz and is now almost 7 lbs! We are so happy to be at home finally after 162 days in the NICU! It’s been quite the rollarcoaster! I am happy to have found your site. Thank you!

  • is it too late to donate a session?

  • Found your page thru a friend. And Love your stuff. Would love a session with Kristina Kathren photography design of Central Oregon. My peemie was a 30 weeker who was taken by emergency c-section due to feto maternal hemmorage, he is our miracle was not exspected to live, had 7 blood tranfusions, 18 days on life support, I held him for the first time when he was 11 days old, what a long and hard wait to hold my sweet boy. Him and his 2 brothers are the light of our lives and I love capturing their youth and innocence through photos. Thanks for such an awesome contest!!!!

  • I also tweeted about the giveaway! 🙂

  • I am interested in KM Photo Studio in Dallas Texas/ I “liked” her page as well as It’s A Preemie Thing FB page.

My son was born at 30 weeks due to pre e and hellp. He had an 8 week NICU stay and is now 5 months old. He has changed my life forever in so many ways. During our time in the NICU I made friends with the other moms who were in at the same time. We would meet up and talk and go to lunch to get a break from everything. After we all left the NICU I realized that we still needed that time together. I started an organization that offers local support groups and NICU grad play groups. I wanted to give to other preemie moms the gift of talking to other moms that understand what they are going through. We have plans to team up with local NICUs and offer gift baskets with different items helpful to new preemie parents. Because of my son, I have found a new passion in life.

Here is the link to our organizations facebook page where I posted about this giveaway.

  • I am a mom of a preemie! My son was born at 31 weeks he was 2lbs 14.5 ounces and 14 inches long. he spent a month and 3 days in the nicu. he survived a collapsed lung, a hole in a valve of his hear and sleep apnea. we brought him home at only 3 lbs. he is now 3 yrs old and is 36 lbs. writing his name and reading you would never know he was a preemie. he is my miracle child! and i wouldnt trade a thing about him. This is a wonderful thing you guys are doing. i would like to chose the photographer in canton ohio called chatman photography! We delivered my son emergency c-section due to his placenta closing and he was suffocating. It is amazing to me to see all these preemie parents and read their stories! i love it

  • I have my little 16 pound monkey who we would love to have a photo shoot with. We are in alaska. so just looked today and realized there was one.. yay! no facebook page.. but i checked out there blog what cute little ones.
been a fan of yours for a while!

  • I have also shared this on my facebook page to my fellow preemie parents!

  • me and my formor 23 weeker shared your blog on facebook. this is awesome what you are doing.
My little one was born at just 15 oz. She spent months on the highest setting of the osulator and still was having problems. many time w e went in and all the doc did was shake his head.. Nothing new to try. its up to her now. she was finnaly able to get off the vent middle of december. She came home after 136 days at 6 pounds 12 oz at just 1 week after her due date, We are blessed every day with just a little bit more patienance cause well we were told she would never leave the hospitel!
She is now almost 18 months old and learning to walk talk and see what kind of mischief she can get in to.

  • I do not see the photographers listed that I would like to do the shoot, but they are fans of your page. Andrea Lopez Photography, Future Memories phorography, or one on the list http://smallbeginningsphoto.blogspot.comhttp://www.facebook.com/pages/Small-Beginnings-Photography/118990771481592

My daughter Rilya (an acronym for Remember I Love You Always, pronounced Rye-lah) was 5 weeks early. She was born emergency c-section and during the c-section the doctor realized my appendix was burst. When I first got to bring her home, I had to weigh her before and after she ate, just to determine if she was gaining proper weight.

  • I LOVE Bean and Sprout Photography from Portland, OR (and they’re closer to us than Seattle photographers). My daughter Grace was a 28 wk preemie, weighing 2lb 13oz, 15 1/4 inches long. She was in the NICU for 3.5 months and contracted CMV from one of the staff, which gave her viral meningitis which led to a stroke which led to cerebral paulsey. She is now just a few months shy of 3 yrs old and is in the 85-95th percentile for height and weight and loves to dance and sing. She is severly far sighted but refuses to wear her cute purple glasses, and always tells me, “I fine, mom!”. She falls alot when she’s tired but simply gets back up and literally “shakes it off” by shaking her head and butt around like a little puppy shaking off water, and says, “I ok mom, I shake it off”. We’ve been told after numerous specialist and eating/speech therapy appointments that she may or may not have learning challenges; she was behind on walking and speaking, but she has known all her animals, their sounds and where they live, plus colors and shapes since she was barely 2 and has been counting for 6 months and is now working on her letters. She loves to jump in rain puddles and sing along with the radio. She is my everything, and she astounds me every day (even on the days she tells me “no!”).

  • I have liked your page since the beginning! I heard about it on the BBC Preemie board. I “liked” all the photographers in Oregon, but my favorite is Memories by Stephanie 🙂

I love preemies so much that I have two! My older daughter, Kenna, was born at 34 weeks 4 days and she is a firecracker–seriously always on the go, never slowing down! She’s now 21 months old and is definitely a toddler gaining her independence! My second daughter, Caelyn, was born at 35 weeks 2 days and is now 7 months old. She is the most beautiful little 7 month old! She always has a smile on her face and is happiest when being worn close to me, either in my wrap or in the sling. Both girls were early due to severe pre-eclampsia.

  • I am a proud mom to a 19 month old. My 26 lb chunky little boy was born at 28 week at 2 lb 11 oz and spent 8 week in the NICU. Jaxsen was born when i had severe toxemia and had to have an emergency C section on july 4th 2009. He is the only Preemie in our family and has taught us about a bigger world then just healthy ” normal babies.” Jaxsen has taught me more about life and patience then i ever thought possible.
I would love the opportunity to win a photo session with Memories by Stephaine photography. Everything my son has overcome is amazing and I feel that there is no better way to capture his strength than through pictures.

  • I reposted the link to this giveaway on my facebook page and another mom’s group that I am a part of 🙂

  • I posted this to my facebook page and to my Momma blog for babies born in June July and August 2009

  • Hi! We would love to have a session with Bean and Sprout Photography in the Bay Area. Our preemie princess was born December 2nd, 2009. Unfortunately she was not due until January 20th!! I woke up in the middle of the night bleeding in Lake Tahoe, went to the emergency room where the nurse just about had a coronary herself looking at my blood pressure, and then got a deluxe trip to Renown Hospital in Reno via helicopter for an emergency c-section. Turns out in addition to Toxemia, I had an almost complete placental abruption and had we been even an hour later, both the baby and I probably would not be here.

But be here, she is! Emma Elizabeth Jennings was 4lbs, 4oz and 17 inches. Now, at 14 months she is almost 23 lbs and 31 inches! She is thriving and we are so blessed! 5 weeks in the NICU and living in the ROnald McDonald house was tough, but we wouldn’t change anything about our baby girl! She is truly the love of our lives and we would be grateful to get to document her amazing story in pictures!

  • I would like to win a session with Kenzi Photography in Cedar Rapids, IA.

At 32 weeks, 5 days I woke up early in the morning and my water broke. Labor was held off until I hit 34 weeks and my beautiful daughter was born weighing in at a whopping 4 lbs 2 oz, 16 inches long. She was only in the 7% for her gestational age. There was a true knot in the cord and the cord was only attached to the membranes of the placenta. We stayed in the NICU for two weeks. She was growing perfectly for three months (even though she had a lot of issues with jaunice) then suddenly lost half a pound. She was readmitted to the hospital for 5 days and every person they could find came and told me I was a bad mother and not feeding my child enough. Turns out she had a bad case of reflux and it hurt her too much to eat so she wasn’t nursing enough. She is now about 5 1/2 months old and recently broke through to double digits! 10 lbs, 6 oz! She may be a peanut but I love her with all of my heart. She is so precious!

  • I found you thru babycenter. I have 29weekers -boy/girl twins that will be one month old tomorrow. They still have another 4-6 weeks left in the NICU. I would love to win a session with Andrea Kinter in Columbus Ohio. I don’t actually live there but all of my family does and we’ll be there as soon as the babies are cleared to travel. Thanks for putting this contest together!

  • My Sweet Lil Miracle McKayla was born at 31 wks. by C-section due to a placental abruption weighing 3lbs. 7 oz. 16.5 in. She spent a total of 29 days in the NICU… Did CPAP the 1st day just to keep lungs open because even after taking a huge breath at birth. they had trouble getting her to breath again. She went through all the apnea, low heart rate, jaundice and everything else.. She had a Low Grade 1-2 brain bleed and the day we went to take her home were told, she now has cysts in her brain, basically telling us she would have CP. She today is 12lbs 23.5 in. and Birth Age 5 1/2 months old!! We love her dearly, She is known in Our Home as Our True Miracle Baby!!! My body wasn’t right the whole pregnancy.. I thought every month I was having my normal cycle, was even discussing Peri-Menopause with my Mother in Law. I never felt the flutters, sickness or anything that I did with my other 3 pregnancies, which were all normal. I took a pregnancy test only because I found it odd I got kicked after eating! I took a test and ultra-sound and found out I was 24wks. I was 1st admitted to the Hospital at 27wks. due to bleeding and sent home with instructions to take it very easy.. at 28wks. the bleeding started again and never stopped.

The best moment of my life was taking my lil’ 4lb. 6 oz. sweet pea home to meet her 3 older sisters!! I would love a session with Bean and Sprout Photography

  • I like Little Bean Photography, Kimberly Davis Photography, and Jennifer Mayne Photography. I have a preemie girl named Audrey who just turned one this month. She has never had professional photos taken (baby #3 always gets stuck with fewer pictures!) so we are really needing some good ones of her!

  • Hello, I would like to enter my 27 weeker. I am interested in http://www.artsychameleon.net/ or http://www.ckrisphotography.com/. I live in Fillmore which is somewhere between LA and Santa Barbara.

I have two sons, my first pregnancy went great and I had a healthy 8lb 14oz boy 1 week early via c-section. So when I got pregnant again we expecting the same experience. My son Coy (who was 8) was so excited since he had been wanting a sibling for a few years, but that excitement turned into fear when I was hospitalized at 22 weeks. I was admitted because I was 2-3 dialated with a bulging bag, they diagnosed me with an incompetent cervix and given little hope. I spent the next 5 weeks on strict bed rest, only allowed up to use the bedside commode every other day. Even though I dreaded the weekly iv changes and suffered through a kidney infection from the catheter I was determined to get him to 30 weeks. During this time he was feet first and entering the birth canal. Little Oli was born Dec 18 2009 at 1:28am via crash c-section. He did amazingly well during his 3 month nicu stay, he did get a cut on his back during delivery and a staph infection through his umbillical iv line when he was 11 days old. He spent 2 weeks on the vent, 1 week on cpap, 7 weeks on vaporherm, 1 week on nasual canula, and 3 days with no oxygen before he came home – just 3 days before his due date. He is now 14 months old and is almost ready to walk on his own, he amazes us everyday and his brother loves finally having a brother 🙂

  • I would love my little ones to have their photo’s done by Torri Howard. I have twin preemie boys. They were born 5 weeks, 4 days early and spent 3 weeks in the NICU with eating and ABC issues. They have been home since Christmas eve, it was a great Christmas present. They were know in the NICU as the big boy preemies because they were very good weight, 5 lbs, 11 oz and 5 lbs, 9 oz. The nurses in the NICU kept telling me do not let their weight fool you, they still have preemie brains. They are 2 months, three weeks old now and both are 12 lbs! They were supposed to be identical but they are not, the most noticeable difference is one is almost bald and the other has a lot of hair, getting thinner every day but still has a mowhawk on the top. So cute! Their names are Michael and William and the cutest little babies ever!

    • Monica – I would love the opportunity to photography your boys! Please feel free to contact me via my FB page.

  • Hope I’m not too late!!! I’d love to win the http://www.victoriapeachdesigns.com/ (Houston, TX) giveaway! I am the proud mother of 5 kiddos who are technically all preemies, but my youngest are twins that were born at 30 weeks after complete hospital bed rest, numerous medications and LOTS AND LOTS of prayer! Zeven was born weighing 1lb 14oz and was 13.5″ long, she was severeIUGR, but was born breathing on her own and didn’t need ANY oxygen! Zoeigh was 4lbs 3oz and 17″ long, she was on CPAP for a few hours after birth, but was on room air the same day she was born! They were in the NICU for 69 days, and will be 2 years old on March 20th. Zeven now weighs 20lbs and Zoeigh is 30lbs. Thanks for doing this Julie, I remember before this site even started and it was just a thought on BBC, great job on helping preemie mommies!!!

  • I would love to have a session with Denise from Rising Sun Memories. I have had two preemies now. My first I went into spontanous labor that could not be stop and it resalted in giving birth to an amazing baby girl at 32 weeks. She did a three week hospital stay and finally came home in time for her daddy to deploy for 15 months. So he spent 3 days with her before he had to go. When he came home she was almost 17 months. My second preemie came at 33 weeks. I prayed to God everyday of my pregnancy to make it past 30 weeks. Before 31 weeks is when you made to leave island because of the lack of care after the NICU for preemies. So once I hit that milestone I prayed to make it past my oldest son’s birthday and Christmas. Well my prayers were answered because I made it past all the days I was trying to avoid. My water broke December 26th and my beautiful son was born. He did 11 days in NICU. He never went on any breathing machine or required any medication. He is doing amazingly well.

    • oh geez my fast fingers hit post comment before I had a chance to correct my spelling errors.
So to correct I would say spontaneous, stopped, and resulted. Sorry all!

  • I am so excited! I am from illinois and am intrested in the e+3 session! I liked their facebook page. I have three preemies all born from different reasons we found out later are a result of antiphosphiolipid antibody syndrome. My oldest is 6 E was born at 32 weeks 3lbs 2oz and perfectly healthy came home at 3lbs 7oz and has been the epitamy of health since. My son was born at 27 weeks due to placental abruption 2lbs 6oz M is 2 1/2 he has had our most issues and now is gtube fed has a ton of therapies. Our little surprize G was our biggest baby she was born due to preterm labor and low amniotic fluid. Born at 34 weeks 4lbs 15oz she has has a lot of issues with her muscles, G is nearly 2. M and G are 10 months apart due to a little miracle which at the moment we thought a huge mistake she was concieved while our son was still in the nicu. I worried to the day she was born and even a few after how I could handle a son with so many issues and then another baby…. Then when we brought her home she fit perfectly and I would no change a thing!

  • I would love to have a session with Jenniferlynn photography in West Virginia!
My preemie is now 8 months old!!! (Xavier Ryan) He was born at 34 weeks due to pre-eclampsia. He spent 3 weeks in the NICU learning how to eat! He never had any other issues with breathing or anything, just couldn’t keep milk down.
We battle with reflux now (still), but other than that he is healthy as can be – & he’s a bit on the tiny side!!

  • Hi! I am in metro Atlanta and I would love to have Julie Ross Photography take some pictures!

My preemie was born at 35 weeks after my bag of waters was ruptured prematurely. He was born unable to breathe on his own and when he was less than two days old the doctors had his air pressure up too high and it tore one if his lungs (pneumothorax). He spent just under two weeks in the NICU and came home, but his journey did not end there. His underdeveloped digestive and respiratory system caused a multitude of problems and his first 15 months of life were very difficult on all of us. He is now 22 months old, mostly healthy and the joy of our life. He is the strongest little guy I know and the strength he has to go through al the medical procedures he has is inspiring to all who know him. I would love to be able to capture his now healthy self in some photographs!

  • We would like to get a session with Studio E+3 in Mount Pulaski, IL. Our little guy was born in August and was 8 weeks early. We were blessed with many twists of fate that found out that he had decreased blood flow to him and low amniotic fluid. He was IUGR and was born weighing only 2 pounds 8 ounces. We spent a month in the NICU and were able to bring him home in September weighing only 3 pounds 11 ounces. He will be turning 6 months old this week and has grown so much – yesterday’s nurse visit placed him at 14.4 pounds!! Good luck to everyone and their little miracles!

  • Hi there! Thanks so much for this possible opportunity and for being a conduit for preemie parents to connect. I found your site over a year ago. I want to say it was a posting I saw on the March of Dimes site that led me to yours? I’m honestly not sure but I think I was seeking online resources in a time of feeling very isolated. Your posts lifted my spirits. My son Lorenzo Patrick was born November 22, 2009, (around the same time as yours, I think?) two pounds, seven ounces and at 26 weeks. He spent 119 days (basically the whole Winter) in the NICU , much of that time on some sort of ventilator. When they suggested to us he may have to graduate to an infant rehab if he didn’t start breathing on his own , I kicked it into high gear and started singing Amy Winehouse’s Rehab song to him during Kangaroo sessions and I think it worked! He just turned 15 months yesterday and is a whopping 25 pounds. March 19th will be Lorenzo’s year anniversary home with us. It brings tears to me eyes. As other preemie parents who’ve entered this contest have mentioned, we too never had professional photographs taken. I was instructed for a long time to keep Lorenzo home because his lungs were so fragile. Well, we need to get out and celebrate!! 🙂 If we’re so lucky as to take part in this fun contest, we’d love to take a ride up to Rockport, MA and have a photo session with Esther Mathieu. http://www.facebook.com/estherphoto?sk=photos#!/estherphoto?sk=wall&closeTheater=1. She would love our little Mr. Fresh Pants I think!! Thank you for the chance!

  • I posted the giveaway details on my FB page! I would love a second chance to win! Cheers from Boston.

  • In July of 2010 I gave birth to 29 week twins. My son weighed 1lb 12oz at birth and my daughter weighed 2lb 4oz. It was a very long journey, and my son came home on continuous O2, but last week they FINALLY discontinued the O2. He is just shy of 10 pounds, and my daughter is almost 14 pounds. Now that his adorable face is tube free, we would LOVE to win a photography session. They haven’t been able to leave the house except for doc appts, so this would just be completely awesome!!! We are located in Brick, New Jersey.

  • I would love to win the package from Jennifer Mayne Photography in Round Rock, TX. My baby girl was born at 27 weeks weighing 2lbs 4.5oz, She is now 5 months old weighing 9lbs! She is doing, she still has a small PDA and still on her apnea monitor! I would love this prize!!!!!

  • I Shared your post on my facebook wall! So want to win!

  • Hi! We would like a chance to win a session with A Golden Touch Photography in the Buffalo area! Our daughter Cami was born at 33 weeks and 3lbs 9oz after it was realized I had preeclampsia which quickly progressed to HELLP Syndrome. I spent a total of 9 days in the hospital, and she spent 3 weeks in the NICU. She just turned 2 years old in January and is a daily reminder of how lucky we are to have her in our lives! We are expecting number 2 in July, and keeping our fingers crossed for a full term pregnacy!

  • I found ‘It’s a Preemie Thing’ on facebook while searching for support groups while my daughter was in the NICU.

My daughter was born in October and spent 76 days in the NICU. We don’t have any professional photos of her yet and would love to work with Images by Larissa as we live near Milwaukee, WI.

Emma was born at 26 weeks weighing 1 pound 14 ounces. She is now 4 months old and weights just over 7 pounds. She’s our little miracle. It’s been amazing for us to watch her grow.

  • Hi I found you through March of Dimes on FB. My Ella Rose put me in the hospital for a week with severe preeclampsia. She was born at 32 weeeks at 3lbs 3ozs. She is a true miracle and fighter. She was never on oxygen and spent 30 days in NICU. Now she is 5 1/2 months and over 13 lbs! I would love to win the session with Erin Ellibee of Kansas City, MO

  • We would love to win the package in Louisville, KY!
    * Liked you on FB- earlier this month (found you on BBC)
    * Liked the photographers page as well!
    * My preemie is 8 month old Aiden. He was born 12 weeks early and spent 2 months in the NICU. He was also born with a unilateral cleft lip and palate. He had his first nose and lip repair last November. His next surgery is scheduled for May, with another planned sometime this fall.
    * I am sharing this on FB and attempting to post on my blog if I can figure it out!!

  • I would love to be the first to enter for the Kamloops pics. I left a msg on their wall asking how soon I’d need to use the session. I’m In Vancouver but could plan a visit in the late spring/early summer.

My son will be 4 on Sun. He was born at 32wks and 4day. I had been on bed rest at the local hospital the wk before he arrived. And it was still a shock when they said c-section tonite. I knew he’d be early, thought we would make it a little longer!

My little fighter was 3lbs3ozs at birth the smallest babe they’d had at my local hospital. We were very fortunate that we didnt need to be transfered to the local Children’s Hospital.

Not sure where I found “Its a preemie thing” I am a member on Inspire.com and alot of the mommas there are on fb sharing all kinds of links.. I’m sure it was one of them that led me there.

  • I just posted this on my FB page:
My good friend Julie has started a blog and has some amazing give aways if you have a preemie.
    Featured « It’s a preemie thing blog
Blog for itsapreemiething.com web site and store, this blog will provide product reviews and giveaways to other well deserving preemie parents

  • I became a fan of your page after seeing the link from the FB page of Wendy Magee Photography in Cincinnati Ohio. I’ve liked her page for awhile now and know she does awesome work.

My son was born on the cusp of being a preemie at 36 weeks. It was difficult because he wasn’t ready to be born as he hadn’t “dropped” yet and I was not dilated. No part of my body was ready for delivery. However at 34 weeks I began having episodes of almost blacking out and feeling very dizzy. I was diagnosed with acute fatty liver of pregnancy. My liver was failing and my kidneys were starting to do not well either. I had to be induced. After 26 of pain and waiting I was finally able to give birth to my son. He was rushed away from me due to concerns of possible issues with his lungs. We were blessed with a pretty healthy 6lb 11 oz boy. Mighty big for a preemie, but still concerns for not being fully developed. After being out of it for the first day or two of his life, I was able to regain strength. We were released from the hospital after 6 days of being there. I thank God everyday, but especially on his birthday, that the doctors and nurses were able to figure out the best plan for me to wait and deliver him at 36 weeks versus 34 weeks. I’m blessed to watch him grow each day and become a happy, healthy 5 year old on Feb 13, 2011.

  • Julie-
Saw your WI Photographers are unclaimed and that’s where we are 🙂 A brief about Parker. He’s one hell of a fighter! Parker has officially spent more time OUT of the hospital than in! He was born, not the smallest, at 34 weeks and while it looked like we were smoothe sailing out of the NICU, his father flipped and was stripped of his parental rights when P was 4 weeks old. Learning what it’s like to be a mom and a single mom to boot was not easy, especially when he was about 6 months old and started in on severe lung issues. Fast forward to a year ago when P had his first set of brochoscopies where we finally found a diagnosis. Parker has Primary Ciliary Dyskenesia which is a cousin to CF. Parker now breathes with the assistance of oxygen, a percussion vest, low dose steroid and is monitored via pulse ox. This year, since November, his lungs have collapsed 3 times and had 5 rounds of pneumonia. It’s a rough life dealing with a preemie alone, but to add a chronic lung disease on top of it makes it impossible to be able to get out to get a simple family portrait made. Winning a session with Images By Larissa would bring a small sense of normalcy to our crazy life 🙂 Even if we have to end up including Children’s Hospital in it! Thank you agian for this oppertunity!

  • I’d love a session with Violets are Blue Photography and Design!!
My LO is currently 6 weeks old. He was born at 30 weeks old. We were finally able to bring him home 2 nights ago after 6 long weeks in the NICU. He’s a beautiful happy little baby! He was born at 3lbs 8ozs and is currently 5lbs 13ozs. 🙂

  • Hi. I am from North Canton Ohio. I am intrested in Chatman photography in Canton Ohio. I am a mom of a 31 weeker who will be celebrating her birthday in just two months. My preemie was born early due to severe preeclampsia. I entered the hospital at 28 weeks and was lucky enough to make it to 31. She was born with no complications. Just needed to grow and learn all the things she needed to be able to do to come home. She is trully a miracle. I am lucky to have her because I have miscarried in the past.

  • Would love a chance to win from Classic Blue Photography in Kamloops,we are a few hours away..but worth the drive 🙂 Our lil preemie Logan was born at 26.4 weeks (pPROM) at 1 lbs 13 oz.He spent 120 days in the NICU before coming home a whopping 7 lbs.He turns 2 next month and we would love to have some pics of him.Thank you

  • I am so touched that this is happening to all these wonderful families. For a short time I was on the Evergreen Hospital NICU family parent to parent board. I had to stop because my little preemie at the time was sick a lot. But, I will never forget helping the parents in the NICU.

I have 2 little preemie girls. Madison was born at 34 weeks in California. She had to stay in the NICU for 2 weeks. She is my little sweet pea. I then had my little Sydney who was born at Evergreen Hospital here in Washington. She was born at 31 weeks and had to stay in the NICU for 2 months. She is so dear to us and a sweet joy. I am currently 31 weeks pregnant and on partial bed rest. All of these little girls are on my right kidney and I am having some trouble with the kidney. The doctors at Evergreen are trying to get me to go to 35-36 weeks. Right now… I am scared out of my mind.

I love this contest. The photographer that I love is Images by Torri Howard.
I am so excited to see who wins and would love to see their fun images on “It’s a Preemie Thing” site.
    Thanks again

    • Lots of prayers Heather that you carry your new little angel to term. Get lots of rest (or as much as you can with two other little ones) and I hope one day I have the opportunity to photography your beautiful babies!

  • I would love a session with Goodeye Photography in Louisville Ky! I have a 5 month old preemie who was born at 28weeks. Her name is Chloe Aundrea Knecht and almost 10lbs. She has been through so much and spent 2 1/2 months in the NICU in Uk hospital in Lexington Ky. She is our miracle baby and spoiled rotten. I haven’t had any pictures taken of her yet because im so scared to take her anywhere but now that she is close to 6 months the Dr gave us the okay. This would be very exciting to have them done!! Thanks and God bless you!

  • I think this is great! What a wonderful thing to do for families with some special little ones. I would love this for my twins who just celebrated their first year home! We like Tonya Ritter-Photography.

Looking forward to seeing who wins and would love to see any pics from their shoot.

  • I find so much encouragement and support from see your pages. I follow along on FB and it gives me strength each day. My son was 26 weeks, 1lb 2oz already intubated, 10.25 inches. He is my angel and gives me strength and courage. He’s almost a year, March 5, maybe he’ll hit 13 lbs by then. Thanks so much!

    • Hi Alyssa! And baby GL, you can do it! Gain that weight baby boy, 1st birthday, so exciting!!

  • Hi! I found you through Violets are Blue Photography in Mount Pleasant, MI.
My daughter was born at 32wks, and spent 3 weeks in the NICU before coming home. She is now almost 7months old and is an absolute blessing in our lives. To look at her now, you could never guess she was a preemie 🙂 Shes a funny little spirit who constatly makes us laugh whether its from her trying to eat her own feet or trying to pet our family dogs.
I wish I would have known about your site earlier!

  • My name is Shonta and I am a mom to three handsome little boys (4 yrs, 2yrs and 10 months). My 10 month old was born at 26 weeks due to a complete placental abruption that came on very sudden near the end of my second trimester. At 2 weeks old Riley James had a PDA ligation to repair a valve in his heart, his health was going down hill and even after the surgery it was very touch and go. It wasn’t till about 5 weeks that we started to see a tremendous improvement and things only got better from that point. He was in the NICU for a total of 10 weeks with oxygen 24/7.
He is now completely off oxygen for the last 2 months and has shown us miracles do occur everyday. Riley started crawling during the super bowl game which is a memory that will last forever since it was such a big milestone and the Green Bay Packers won (we live in WI!)! He is also pulling himself up onto his feet and trying to figure out how to pivot around on his feet! Truly a miracle!
My older 2 boys were early walkers at 8 and 9 months, so it may be very possible that at Riley’s corrected age of 9 months he may be walking! Only 2 1/2 months away…so ready for that milestone but not sure I’m ready to be chasing after 3 little boys at once!!
Riley has shown me a new love for my children and for life…it is so precious and I am forever grateful to God that he has trusted me with such a little blessing!

I am interested in Images by Larissa!

  • I’m interested in Angela Kuwaye Photography in Elizabethtown Kentucky for my twin daughters who are now 5 months and were born at 34wks. Thanks.

  • My daughter was born at 35 weeks, she was 4lbs 15oz and was 16 3/4 inches long. She is a true blessing and miracle from God, my husband and I suffered two miscarriages before Makalee was born, we were told we just had really bad luck and after refusing that answer I was diagnosed with antiphospholipid syndrome, which causes your blood to be to thick to pass through to the placenta causing the baby to not grow right and eventually die. After taking a blood thinner that was not working I ended up doing daily injections of a blood thinner. I was placed on bed rest at 8 weeks and later taken off and told I could return to work. Everything was going great until at 35 weeks went from being perfectly fine to severely preeclamptic within 12 hours. We then were admitted to the hospital on Monday night where a resident gave me medication she was not suppose to give. We then were placed on Magnesium where you are bed ridden for 3 days, we struggled with labor and making my body deliever early, finally the drs agreed we were not making any progress and Makalee was born via c-section on Wednesday late night. She was shown to me and wisked away to be taken to the RNICU because of the Magnesium. I finally was taken of the Magnesium 24 hours later and went to meet my daughter!! =’) She remained in the RNICU for 9 days and then was released to come home to us! Talk about the longest 9 days of my life!!! I never thought I would ever carry a child and God blessed us with our beautiful baby girl, Makalee Lynn 🙂 Thank you for the chance to be entered in this drawing, Violets are Blue Photography and Design has the most amazing photos I have ever seen and I would love a chance for our daughter to be photographed by her!

I like Tyler Plank Photography in Washington DC.

  • Found your page via my friend Maureen Corbett-Gentile…our Preemie is now 15 years old, and after years of speech therapy and health struggles, he just made the Principal’s Honor Roll for straight A’s as a freshman, and is taking his black belt test for Tae Kwon Do next month…happy endings ARE possible <:) We live in Okinawa, Japan and would love a photo session with Rising Sun Memories.

  • I am hoping to win the KCMO photography session from Erin Ellibee for my daughter. She was born at 32 weeks after my wife developed severe preeclampsia. She was 3 pounds 3 ounces when she was born on September 11th, 2010 and is now over 13 pounds at 5 1/2 months. She was in the NICU for 30 days but is healthier than I am now!

  • This is great! I love reading about other miracle babies!
I found this site through another preemie friend on Facebook. Rebecca Spike Photography is gorgeous; natural light is the best. We would love a session with her if chosen.
We have 2 preemies, Evin & Nora. Evin was born at 25 weeks weighing 1 lb 3 oz in December of 2007. After 187 days in the hospital, he came home.
Assured we had the cause of pre-term labor addressed, we conceived Nora. However due to incompetent cervix, I went on bed rest at 24 weeks and held her in until 30 weeks. She was born March of 2010 weighing 2 lbs 14 oz… Almost triple her brother!
They are both doing incredibly well. Evin is thriving in preschool and Nora is well on her way to walking by her 1st birthday.
Life with 2 preemies is challenging- but also the most amazing and rewarding.
Many blessings to all the preemies out there, and those that help them overcome their obstacles!

  • Hi Julie, I’ve been a fan since the early days on BBC. I’m in Huntsville, AL now, so I’d be interested in either of the two listed here. I have twin boys, 20 mo old, who were born at 32w6d and spent two months in the NICU. They were on feeding tubes for about 8 mo and still have some breathing and swallowing issues but for the most part are catching up nicely. Thank you Julie for all that you do for our preemies!!!!

  • Hi my name is Brianna I am the Mom of a Micro Preemie. She was born by emergency c-section July 10, 2010 13 weeks early ( 26 weeks and 6 days) weighing 1lb 14 oz and was 12 1/2 inches long. I was in the hospital on bedrest for 6 weeks due to my incompetent cervix helping her cook a little while longer. She did very well during her 9 week stay in the NICU. She is now 7 1/2 months old ( 4 1/2 month adjusted age) 12lb 5 oz and 24 inches long and doing wonderful. She just started rolling over this week! We would like to have a photo sesion with Victoria Peach Designs in Houston, Texas

  • I would love for my preemie to be entered with the photographer from Houston TX. She was born 11 weeks early due to HELLP syndrome. She is now four months old and thriving. We have yet to get her pictures made.

  • I would love to have an opportunity for a session with Small Beginnings Photography in Spokane, WA. I currently have two boys. My oldest, who is almost 3, was born at 35 weeks. He weighed 7lbs, 1oz and was 19 inches long. He was the biggest baby in the NICU but wore a CPAP for close to 10 days because he was born with premature lungs.

  • Hi! I have twin preemie girls born at 26 weeks, august 5, 2010. So, first thing is that they made it!! Despite what my body wanted to do, God was in control. Emma weighed 920 grams and Hannah 925 grams. The situation seemed quite hopeless. After a week Hannah developed a brain bleed, grade 3 and the rest would be too much for here. She has a vp shunt forever but I’m optimistic that she will be well. Emma has had several issues but not quite as serious although her head is quite large and is being followed by neurology for possible shunt in the future. I’m thankful for them and although life is harder to deal with now at least I can count on these memories versus a tragic loss. Thank you for this opportunity, best regards!!

  • We would LOVE to have pics taken by Julie Ross! My daughter Ryleigh was born at 30 weeks on Halloween 2010 weighing 3lbs 2ozs with her lowest weight being 2lbs 7ozs. She is now home with us after 6 weeks at Piedmont in Atlanta and she is growing and thriving. She just gave us her first smile 2 weeks ago and has not stopped smiling since.

  • I already entered for the Louisville, Ky photgrapher but just saw on FB that no one has entered for Ellettsville, IN. My husband is from Madison, IN. And we would gladly drive the distance if we were lucky enough to win! I don’t want their donation to go unused! It is such a great thing all these photographers are doing!

  • I live in Orlando and would love a session with Portrait Avenue.

I went in for a routine appt with my OB at 20 weeks and found out I was 3 cm dilated, in labor and my son’s amniotic sac was funneling down the birth canal. All of the high risk OB doctors said my twins would never make, but my OB said he would do everything he could to save our babies. I had emergency surgery to stitch up my cervix and spent 47 days flat on my back. Unfortunately, our son’s water broke at 26 weeks and we were forced to deliver our twins. Carson weighed 1 lb 15 oz (13 1/2 inches long) and Kendall weighed 1 lb 14 oz (13 3/4 inches long). Kendall spent 3 months in the NICU and Carson spent 4 months in the hospital. They just turned 2 and are doing great. I thank God for them every day!!

  • Julie Ross Photography would be my choice. My daughter Alex was born on Valentine’s Day in 2008 weighing 1 lb. 6 oz. and is now healty, happy 3 year old, tipping the scales at 23 pounds. She had many of the typical preemie problems and has Stage V ROP with retinal detachment in both eyes. She spent about 4 1/2 months in the NICU, had PDA surgery at 3 weeks of age, bi-lateral laser surgery and three vitrectomies. She came home from the NICU on oxygen but has been fully oxygen free for about 1 year, but she still suffers from BPD but is slowly growing out of it. She is speech delayed and we discovered a paralyzed vocal chord when she had her tube surgery done last year.

  • This is wonderful! I simply love reading different articles about preemie babies and their heart warming stories! I found this site through another preemie friend on Facebook, Arika Moses-Jordan (who by the way is an awesome photographer who just happened to photograph my hubby and I for our engagement pictures and our wedding back in 2008). I can tell by her website that Kayla O’Hearn Photography takes beautiful pictures and captures the very essence of those she photographs. I love her candid shots as well as the still shots. We would love a session with her if chosen. I gave birth to my first child, a 29 week precious baby boy, Kingston LaShawn on December 17, 2010. He weighed 2lbs and 15 oz at birth and was 16 1/2 inches in length. He stayed in the NICU for 40 days when we finally received that blessed call letting us know that we could bring him home! He is doing extremely well! He was 4lbs and 13 oz when we left the hospital and I am happy to say that at his 2 month check up the doctor said he weighed a whopping 6 lbs and 7 oz! Kingston has had several health issues but nothing extreme although he may have to have hernia surgery. All in all thriving and growing by leaps and bounds! Thank you for thr opportunity of possibly being able to have my son’s photo taken by the skillful hand of Kayla O’Hearn Photography in Mississippi and many blessing to all who are sharing (or have already embarked on) this journey of parenting a preemie child!

  • We are a Montana family, so we’d love to work with Saloli Moments Photography in Billings!
We found out at 7 weeks along that we were expecting twins, and found out a few weeks later that they were mono/mono. Due to them being mono/mono, I spent the last 6 weeks of my pregnancy, followed by the 3 weeks our babies stayed in the NICU, away from my husband and then-2 year old son so that the babies could be heavily monitored by our Perinatologist. Our twin girls, Chloe and Lily, were born at 34 weeks, 3 days and spent 20 days in the NICU. Chloe was 4 lb, 10 oz and 17″ long; Lily was 4 lb, 14.5 oz and 17″ long! We were very, very blessed that they had so few problems – just required feeding tubes.
They are happy, thriving and wonderful little girls who will be 3 years old on Friday.

  • Illinois,oak lawn
Abigail Grace born at 31.6 weeks. 8months now..Doing fantastic!

  • hello I found your site just about a month go. my daughter is now 8 months old and doing great. if you read my first post to your page then you might remember she was inside of me until 39 weeks but for the last trimester she didnt grow or get the nutition she needed. she had umbilical growth retardation so she was born as a preemie. her doctor said they had the dates wrong and she as a preemie but the nicu wasnt sure. she stayed in the nicu for the first 2 weeks of life being tube feed but now is doing great and off the high cal formula…life couldnt be better.. we live about 30 mins from orlando. so i would pick:

    the photographer in orlando

i have liked their faceook page ad told them you sent me…thank you

  • posted it on facebook thank you

  • Mom of a sweet 30 weeker; found IAPT through BBC 🙂

  • My son Max was born at 24 weeks gestation in January of 2010. We would like to have a session in VErmont.

  • This entry is for Morgan Porada, who is in the NICU with her surviving twin Tanner, whose brother Christian is now an Angel. <3 She was trying to enter but her cell wasn't working, so I am putting this in for her. She is near Cleaveland, so am guessing Rebecca Spike would be closest for her! Hang in there Momma Morgan!! <3

  • The contest is now officially closed. I will announce the overall winner who will have thier pick of a photographer, then will go through the remaining entrants as not all photographers donated sessions to additional winners. All winners will be announced by Friday! <3 A HUGE thank you to all the photographers who donated their services, time and love! <3

  • I would love a session with any of the photographers in Canton, Ohio, Cleveland, Ohio, or Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. You already know my story but my twin boys were born 15 weeks early in October. After 17 days we lost Christian due to kidney failure n it was by far the worst day of my life. Tanner is STILL in the Nicu and has had four surgeries already. We have no idea when he’ll be home & they’re talking about having to put a trach and feeding tube in for him to be released. But things are starting to look good :)I would love a session with any of the photographers in Canton, Ohio, Cleveland, Ohio, or Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. • I would choose Kaile Meyers photography she is an awesome photographer who captures amazing shots. My daughter Madison was born at 35 weeks on July 2, 2008 weighing 4lb, 6oz. I didn’t feel her moving so I went in and had an emergency c-section. She is now two and has been diagnosed with Cerbal Palsey, she goes to 8 therapy appointments a week. I couldn’t imagine my life without her she is such an amazing little girl. Everyday is a struggle but she is a fighter. Thank you for this oppertunity.
